Leila

Mixed Breed · Female · Senior · 11 years

Leila, beautiful Husky female, born in August 2015, spayed. The lovable senior has gone through several stages in her life before finally coming to our shelter. Shortly before that, she had to undergo a major surgery to remove mammary tumors. She has mastered this time bravely. Now we wish for Leila above all: a loving home where she can finally arrive and stay forever. Like a typical husky, Leila has a lot to tell and enjoys people who listen to her. However, she doesn't necessarily need dog company. In contact with other dogs, she often quickly becomes overwhelmed and clearly shows that she prefers to have her people to herself. Therefore, we can imagine her very well as a single dog. When Leila came to us, it was difficult for her to calm down. This has improved significantly since then, but we still wish her a rather quiet environment where she can feel safe and secure. Leila is a very popular walking companion among our volunteers. She loves long walks in the woods and enjoys her time in the open run. A fenced garden and a rural home would make her very happy. Who gives our enchanting senior the chance for a relaxed and loving old age? Get to know Leila personally. Please remember to include your phone number when making an appointment so we can contact you as soon as possible.

-1 { margin: auto; } -1 -1 img { border: 2px solid ; } -1 /* see gallery_shortcode() in wp-includes/media.php */

About Leila

What life with Leila looks like

Leila is a large senior mixed breed dog waiting at Tierheim Pirmasens in Pirmasens.

Senior dogs settle in faster than younger ones. They want a soft bed, predictable meals, and short, sniff-heavy walks rather than runs. Many senior rescues bond deeply within weeks because they understand exactly how good a stable home is. Expect occasional vet visits for joint or dental care.

🇩🇪Adopting from Germany

German rescues typically require an in-person home visit (Vorkontrolle) or detailed video home check before approving adoption. Dogs and cats typically leave the shelter sterilized, microchipped, and with an EU pet passport.

Frequently asked

Adopting Leila, answered.

How do I contact the shelter about Leila?
Use the phone, email, or website link in the sidebar of this page. Tierheim Pirmasens handles screening and the adoption contract directly — TailHarbor doesn't broker the conversation. When you reach out, mention you saw Leila on TailHarbor so they know which animal you're asking about.
Can I adopt Leila if I live in another country?
Yes, in most cases. Rescues across Europe routinely place animals abroad — Tierheim Pirmasens will tell you what they need (EU pet passport, rabies titer, transport coordination) and whether they handle transport themselves or refer you to a partner. Transport is usually a separate cost, so ask for the exact figure before you commit.
Is Leila already vetted, vaccinated, and chipped?
Most dogs on TailHarbor leave their shelter with sterilization, current vaccinations, microchip ID, and an EU pet passport included in the adoption fee. The vet status on this page reflects what the shelter has reported — ask them directly if you need details on specific vaccines, recent bloodwork, or chronic conditions.
What happens if Leila isn't the right fit?
Every reputable rescue accepts an animal back if the adoption genuinely doesn't work — that's part of the standard contract. Talk it through with Tierheim Pirmasens early rather than rehoming privately; they know Leila and can place them more successfully than a second-hand listing can.
Why does the description sometimes read awkwardly?
TailHarbor translates shelter descriptions into English from the source language (DE). Translation is imperfect — names of streets, donors, and shelter-specific terms occasionally slip through unidiomatically. For the cleanest read, click the source link to see the shelter's original page.
