Leni

Mixed Breed · Female · Adult · 6 years

Location: Romania, Orastie Gender: female, spayed Birth: approximately 2020 Character: okay with other cats. Leni needs a quiet cat friend who doesn't want to interact much. Handicap: none May I introduce myself? I am Leni, born around 2020. I lived alone with a woman for a long time. Then she passed away and no one wanted me from the family. Words like "put to sleep" and "abandon" were spoken. I withdrew into my grief for my owner and started to hiss. The animal rescuer Manuela heard about my case and found a loving foster home for me. Here I feel well cared for and I only purr rarely now. My foster mom can pet me and if I can really settle in my future home, I will certainly become a cuddly cat. There are still many other cats living here and that's just too much for me. I would like to come to bed with you in the evening, but then I see that other cats are already lying there and I withdraw disappointed. It's not that I don't like other cats at all, but this bustle with so many is uncomfortable for me. Mostly I grab a stuffed tiger to cuddle and sleep on, you can see that on a few photos. In my future home I wish for a loving person who shows me with patience and love that I can trust him and then I will give it back with a lot of love and loyalty. It would be nice if you have a suitable cat or tomcat for me as a partner, someone quiet. I can also bring someone from here. I get along well with one or the other here. Then we could travel together to you. I am spayed and have already received my first vaccinations against cat flu and distemper, I am dewormed and dewormed and if I travel to you I will receive a microchip and a rabies vaccination. I will also be tested for FIV and FelV. You can read all this in my EU pet passport. Then my mediator will contact you and you can discuss everything else. Your Leni

Deine Leni

About Leni

What life with Leni looks like

Leni is a adult mixed breed cat waiting at Seelenkatzen e.V. in Barsinghausen.

An adult cat usually shows their personality within a week. Give them a quiet room with everything they need (food, water, litter, hiding spot) and let them choose when to explore. Don't force interaction — every cat decides for themselves when a new home counts as home.

🇩🇪Adopting from Germany

German rescues typically require an in-person home visit (Vorkontrolle) or detailed video home check before approving adoption. Animals leave the shelter sterilized, microchipped, and with a valid EU pet passport. Adoption fees usually fall between €250 and €450, covering veterinary preparation.

Frequently asked

Adopting Leni, answered.

How do I contact the shelter about Leni?
Use the phone, email, or website link in the sidebar of this page. Seelenkatzen e.V. handles screening and the adoption contract directly — TailHarbor doesn't broker the conversation. When you reach out, mention you saw Leni on TailHarbor so they know which animal you're asking about.
Can I adopt Leni if I live in another country?
Yes, in most cases. Rescues across Europe routinely place animals abroad — Seelenkatzen e.V. will tell you what they need (EU pet passport, rabies titer, transport coordination) and whether they handle transport themselves or refer you to a partner. Plan for an extra €100–€350 in transport costs depending on distance.
Is Leni already vetted, vaccinated, and chipped?
Most cats on TailHarbor leave their shelter with sterilization, current vaccinations, microchip ID, and an EU pet passport included in the adoption fee. The vet status on this page reflects what the shelter has reported — ask them directly if you need details on specific vaccines, recent bloodwork, or chronic conditions.
What happens if Leni isn't the right fit?
Every reputable rescue accepts an animal back if the adoption genuinely doesn't work — that's part of the standard contract. Talk it through with Seelenkatzen e.V. early rather than rehoming privately; they know Leni and can place them more successfully than a second-hand listing can.
Why does the description sometimes read awkwardly?
TailHarbor translates shelter descriptions into English from the source language (DE). Translation is imperfect — names of streets, donors, and shelter-specific terms occasionally slip through unidiomatically. For the cleanest read, click the source link to see the shelter's original page.
