Adopt Lenny

Collie · Male · Senior · 9 years

Lenny had to be sheared. Collie, 9 years old! The family found a solution! This is a story about a Collie, which I have experienced many times in the past 25 years. A family rescued a Collie from poor care before something worse happened. At first everything was fine, but after four weeks the little daughter started coughing and symptoms of asthma appeared. After a test it was found that it was Lenny that she reacted to. Lenny is very friendly and attached and people-oriented, once he has trust. He walks well on a leash and after a period of adjustment also without a leash. He likes children and travels in the car. Lenny doesn't know much, but he is very eager to learn and understands quickly! Cats in the house don't bother him! We are looking for a family with a house and enclosed garden for Lenny. Lenny lives 50 km south of Nuremberg and needs to be visited there. A long distance can be bridged with an overnight stay in a holiday home. If you would like to know more about Lenny, then please by email. Please understand that only serious inquiries with full name, phone number and address can be answered. The more information you provide in advance, the better we can determine if the Collie is suitable for you. Short emails... where is the Collie, we already have Collies, the last one died... will not be answered. Your email with a detailed description to Heidi Jostschulte hjostschulte(ät)

About Lenny

What life with Lenny looks like

Lenny is a senior collie dog waiting at Collies suchen ein Zuhause in Oldenburg.

Senior dogs settle in faster than younger ones. They want a soft bed, predictable meals, and short, sniff-heavy walks rather than runs. Many senior rescues bond deeply within weeks because they understand exactly how good a stable home is. Expect occasional vet visits for joint or dental care.

🇩🇪Adopting from Germany

German rescues typically require an in-person home visit (Vorkontrolle) or detailed video home check before approving adoption. Animals leave the shelter sterilized, microchipped, and with a valid EU pet passport. Adoption fees usually fall between €250 and €450, covering veterinary preparation.

Frequently asked

Adopting Lenny, answered.

How do I contact the shelter about Lenny?
Use the phone, email, or website link in the sidebar of this page. Collies suchen ein Zuhause handles screening and the adoption contract directly — TailHarbor doesn't broker the conversation. When you reach out, mention you saw Lenny on TailHarbor so they know which animal you're asking about.
Can I adopt Lenny if I live in another country?
Yes, in most cases. Rescues across Europe routinely place animals abroad — Collies suchen ein Zuhause will tell you what they need (EU pet passport, rabies titer, transport coordination) and whether they handle transport themselves or refer you to a partner. Plan for an extra €100–€350 in transport costs depending on distance.
Is Lenny already vetted, vaccinated, and chipped?
Most dogs on TailHarbor leave their shelter with sterilization, current vaccinations, microchip ID, and an EU pet passport included in the adoption fee. The vet status on this page reflects what the shelter has reported — ask them directly if you need details on specific vaccines, recent bloodwork, or chronic conditions.
What happens if Lenny isn't the right fit?
Every reputable rescue accepts an animal back if the adoption genuinely doesn't work — that's part of the standard contract. Talk it through with Collies suchen ein Zuhause early rather than rehoming privately; they know Lenny and can place them more successfully than a second-hand listing can.
Why does the description sometimes read awkwardly?
TailHarbor translates shelter descriptions into English from the source language (DE). Translation is imperfect — names of streets, donors, and shelter-specific terms occasionally slip through unidiomatically. For the cleanest read, click the source link to see the shelter's original page.
