Lenny

English Bulldog · Male · Young · 1 year

Lenny is a unique Bulldog who is based at Battersea Old Windsor. Lenny has shown to be a little under socialised with other dogs, but has shown great progression with his basic skills to help him learn how to read other dogs. He thrives on human praise and will no doubt be super eager to please when on walks when participating in his training. 3 of Lenny's favourite things are, playing with toys especially tennis balls, having fuss and nuzzling for more attention and exploring wooded areas. Lenny loves to explore natural spaces on his walks and although he forgets his manners at times, with some support and guidance, he has shown to improve with his loose lead walking. He is looking for a home where his family are active and willing to continue basic training with him, to ensure he gains a good set of foundation skills as he matures into a well rounded gentleman. His new owners will need to be able to read dog body language. Lenny can be a sensitive boy who can find some situations a little overwhelming, particularly when meeting new people or when he's in busy, high-stress environments. He can feel uncomfortable if people stare directly at him, when he's feeling uncertain around unfamiliar people, Lenny may express his worries vocally. For this reason, he'll need patient and understanding adopters who are comfortable recognising his body language and helping him move away from situations that he finds overwhelming. With gentle guidance, space, and support, Lenny is able to build his confidence and feel more comfortable in the world around him. He is very bright and already knows lots of commands such as sit, paw, other paw, down, drop, wait and come, he enjoys verbal praise and is very eager to please. About Lenny

What life with Lenny looks like

Lenny is a medium-sized young adult english bulldog dog waiting at Battersea Dogs & Cats Home in London.

An young adult dog fits most household rhythms once the first couple of weeks of adjustment pass. Two reasonable walks a day plus play time is usually enough. Plan a "decompression fortnight" — quiet routine, no visitors, no off-leash adventures — to let them settle.

🇬🇧Adopting from United Kingdom

UK shelters work under the Pet Travel Scheme (post-Brexit, the EU pet passport is not valid; a UK Animal Health Certificate is required for travel into the EU). Most UK rescues focus on domestic placements but some work with EU partners.

Frequently asked

Adopting Lenny, answered.

How do I contact the shelter about Lenny?
Use the phone, email, or website link in the sidebar of this page. Battersea Dogs & Cats Home handles screening and the adoption contract directly — TailHarbor doesn't broker the conversation. When you reach out, mention you saw Lenny on TailHarbor so they know which animal you're asking about.
Can I adopt Lenny if I live in another country?
Yes, in most cases. Rescues across Europe routinely place animals abroad — Battersea Dogs & Cats Home will tell you what they need (EU pet passport, rabies titer, transport coordination) and whether they handle transport themselves or refer you to a partner. UK adopters: post-Brexit travel into the EU requires an Animal Health Certificate. Plan for an extra €100–€350 in transport costs depending on distance.
Is Lenny already vetted, vaccinated, and chipped?
Most dogs on TailHarbor leave their shelter with sterilization, current vaccinations, microchip ID, and an EU pet passport included in the adoption fee. The vet status on this page reflects what the shelter has reported — ask them directly if you need details on specific vaccines, recent bloodwork, or chronic conditions.
What happens if Lenny isn't the right fit?
Every reputable rescue accepts an animal back if the adoption genuinely doesn't work — that's part of the standard contract. Talk it through with Battersea Dogs & Cats Home early rather than rehoming privately; they know Lenny and can place them more successfully than a second-hand listing can.
Why does the description sometimes read awkwardly?
TailHarbor translates shelter descriptions into English from the source language (EN). Translation is imperfect — names of streets, donors, and shelter-specific terms occasionally slip through unidiomatically. For the cleanest read, click the source link to see the shelter's original page.
