Leo

Mixed Breed · Male · Young · 3 years

Leo, a male, neutered cat, born around 2023/2024, is a calm and friendly cat who desires a quiet feline companion in his future home (no single-cat households). He is very people-oriented. Leo has a disability, having lost a leg, likely due to an accident on the street. He is not suitable for outdoor living. He is a pure indoor cat. I am Leo, the cat, and I have had a tough life. I was found on the street, already having lost a leg, and everything had healed. Something terrible must have happened to me in the past. I was found near a train station, which was very dangerous for a cat and suggests something bad happened to me. It's possible someone took me to a vet after the accident, as my stump seems well-healed. But I was then put back on the street, and as a disabled cat, it's even more dangerous. Now I have finally found some luck in my life, as someone noticed me and I am in a foster home. Here, I am well cared for and can finally breathe, finally rest, finally sleep deeply! That's so wonderful! But I can't stay here forever. So I'm looking for a real home where I can stay forever. I never want to go back to the street! With my three legs, I get along well. I can even climb onto a chair and get on the table, I find my way and don't give up. In my future home, I wish for a kind person or several, as I really love people and enjoy being petted and cuddled. It would be nice if you have a suitable cat or male cat as a partner, preferably someone calm. I can also bring someone from here. Then we could travel together to you. I have been neutered and have already received my initial vaccinations against cat flu and distemper, have been dewormed and de-fleaed, and if I travel to you, I will receive a microchip and a rabies vaccination. I will also be tested for FIV and FeLV. You can read all this in my EU pet passport. Then my caregiver will contact you and you can discuss everything further. This is Leo!

Dein Leo!

About Leo

What life with Leo looks like

Leo is a young adult mixed breed cat waiting at Seelenkatzen e.V. in Barsinghausen.

An adult cat usually shows their personality within a week. Give them a quiet room with everything they need (food, water, litter, hiding spot) and let them choose when to explore. Don't force interaction — every cat decides for themselves when a new home counts as home.

🇩🇪Adopting from Germany

German rescues typically require an in-person home visit (Vorkontrolle) or detailed video home check before approving adoption. Animals leave the shelter sterilized, microchipped, and with a valid EU pet passport. Adoption fees usually fall between €250 and €450, covering veterinary preparation.

Frequently asked

Adopting Leo, answered.

How do I contact the shelter about Leo?
Use the phone, email, or website link in the sidebar of this page. Seelenkatzen e.V. handles screening and the adoption contract directly — TailHarbor doesn't broker the conversation. When you reach out, mention you saw Leo on TailHarbor so they know which animal you're asking about.
Can I adopt Leo if I live in another country?
Yes, in most cases. Rescues across Europe routinely place animals abroad — Seelenkatzen e.V. will tell you what they need (EU pet passport, rabies titer, transport coordination) and whether they handle transport themselves or refer you to a partner. Plan for an extra €100–€350 in transport costs depending on distance.
Is Leo already vetted, vaccinated, and chipped?
Most cats on TailHarbor leave their shelter with sterilization, current vaccinations, microchip ID, and an EU pet passport included in the adoption fee. The vet status on this page reflects what the shelter has reported — ask them directly if you need details on specific vaccines, recent bloodwork, or chronic conditions.
What happens if Leo isn't the right fit?
Every reputable rescue accepts an animal back if the adoption genuinely doesn't work — that's part of the standard contract. Talk it through with Seelenkatzen e.V. early rather than rehoming privately; they know Leo and can place them more successfully than a second-hand listing can.
Why does the description sometimes read awkwardly?
TailHarbor translates shelter descriptions into English from the source language (DE). Translation is imperfect — names of streets, donors, and shelter-specific terms occasionally slip through unidiomatically. For the cleanest read, click the source link to see the shelter's original page.
