Leo

Male Β· Puppy Β· 18 months

LEO a small and stunning little breton was found as a stray, but it took days for his capture. He had managed to survive (albeit barely) and was very wary of people. He was caught in a very poor state and it has taken months of care and love to see the true LEO. He is in foster near Grantham, Lincolnshire. He is still quite scared of people and new environments, but loves the people he knows and is a real cuddle monster. He loves playing with the resident dogs and is cat friendly. Only 11 kg, he’s a slight boy, but just the right weight know. Loves his food and all the treats (especially pigs ears). He is housetrained and sleeps well in the kitchen at night with the other foster dogs. He does know his name, but can be a little elusive when it is time to leave the enclosed paddock! He is walking better on a lead and harness now, but a typical breton with his nose constantly to the ground. He will need a quietish home with a patient family willing to build up his confidence, but in retur

About Leo

What life with Leo looks like

Leo is a small puppy dog waiting at Save Our Spaniels in United Kingdom.

Puppies need routine, gentle socialization, and roughly two short outings a day for the first year. The first six months are the formative window β€” house-training, leash work, and quiet exposure to traffic, other dogs, and unfamiliar people happen now or not at all. Expect early-morning wake-ups and a few months of chewing.

πŸ‡¬πŸ‡§Adopting from United Kingdom

UK shelters work under the Pet Travel Scheme (post-Brexit, the EU pet passport is not valid; a UK Animal Health Certificate is required for travel into the EU). Most UK rescues focus on domestic placements but some work with EU partners.

Frequently asked

Adopting Leo, answered.

How do I contact the shelter about Leo?
Use the phone, email, or website link in the sidebar of this page. Save Our Spaniels handles screening and the adoption contract directly β€” TailHarbor doesn't broker the conversation. When you reach out, mention you saw Leo on TailHarbor so they know which animal you're asking about.
Can I adopt Leo if I live in another country?
Yes, in most cases. Rescues across Europe routinely place animals abroad β€” Save Our Spaniels will tell you what they need (EU pet passport, rabies titer, transport coordination) and whether they handle transport themselves or refer you to a partner. UK adopters: post-Brexit travel into the EU requires an Animal Health Certificate. Transport is usually a separate cost, so ask for the exact figure before you commit.
Is Leo already vetted, vaccinated, and chipped?
Most dogs on TailHarbor leave their shelter with sterilization, current vaccinations, microchip ID, and an EU pet passport included in the adoption fee. The vet status on this page reflects what the shelter has reported β€” ask them directly if you need details on specific vaccines, recent bloodwork, or chronic conditions.
What happens if Leo isn't the right fit?
Every reputable rescue accepts an animal back if the adoption genuinely doesn't work β€” that's part of the standard contract. Talk it through with Save Our Spaniels early rather than rehoming privately; they know Leo and can place them more successfully than a second-hand listing can.
Why does the description sometimes read awkwardly?
TailHarbor translates shelter descriptions into English from the source language (EN). Translation is imperfect β€” names of streets, donors, and shelter-specific terms occasionally slip through unidiomatically. For the cleanest read, click the source link to see the shelter's original page.
