Bobby

Maltese · Male · Young · 1 year

Meet Bobby, a fun and energetic Maltese currently based at our Old Windsor site. He’s a bright little character who absolutely loves people and never turns down a chance to play. Although Bobby may look like butter wouldn’t melt, he is a mischievous boy and has shown some undesirable behaviours both in his previous home and here on site and is looking for very dedicated owners to continue his training. Bobby loves playing with toys, whether he’s tossing his soft toys around by himself or enjoying a game with someone by his side. He’s equally enthusiastic about his walks, especially when he gets to explore quiet woodland paths where he can take in all the sights and smells at his own pace. He can get spooked by things he has not seen before and he will bark at them but given gentle encouragement and time he can gain in confidence. Bobby has shown some over‑the‑top behaviours in the past, so he’ll be happiest in a home without children, where things are a little calmer and more predictable for him, and they can give him space where needed. His interactions with other dogs have been mixed — he can be vocal and frustrated at times — but he has made good progress with his training and has built a lovely circle of dog friends here. With the right guidance, he continues to grow in confidence every day.He will really benefit from ongoing socialisation with steady, well‑mannered dogs who can be good role models for him. Bobby is a vocal dog at times, either when he’s excited or anxious and this may not change much so understanding owners are a must. With patience and structure, Bobby will thrive in a home that understands his lively nature and wants to help him continue becoming the best version of himself. If you have already completed our online rehoming form and would like to know more about, Bobby you can e-mail our rehoming team on to register your interest.

About Bobby

What life with Bobby looks like

Bobby is a small young adult maltese dog waiting at Battersea Dogs & Cats Home in London.

An young adult dog fits most household rhythms once the first couple of weeks of adjustment pass. Two reasonable walks a day plus play time is usually enough. Plan a "decompression fortnight" — quiet routine, no visitors, no off-leash adventures — to let them settle.

🇬🇧Adopting from United Kingdom

UK shelters work under the Pet Travel Scheme (post-Brexit, the EU pet passport is not valid; a UK Animal Health Certificate is required for travel into the EU). Most UK rescues focus on domestic placements but some work with EU partners.

Frequently asked

Adopting Bobby, answered.

How do I contact the shelter about Bobby?
Use the phone, email, or website link in the sidebar of this page. Battersea Dogs & Cats Home handles screening and the adoption contract directly — TailHarbor doesn't broker the conversation. When you reach out, mention you saw Bobby on TailHarbor so they know which animal you're asking about.
Can I adopt Bobby if I live in another country?
Yes, in most cases. Rescues across Europe routinely place animals abroad — Battersea Dogs & Cats Home will tell you what they need (EU pet passport, rabies titer, transport coordination) and whether they handle transport themselves or refer you to a partner. UK adopters: post-Brexit travel into the EU requires an Animal Health Certificate. Plan for an extra €100–€350 in transport costs depending on distance.
Is Bobby already vetted, vaccinated, and chipped?
Most dogs on TailHarbor leave their shelter with sterilization, current vaccinations, microchip ID, and an EU pet passport included in the adoption fee. The vet status on this page reflects what the shelter has reported — ask them directly if you need details on specific vaccines, recent bloodwork, or chronic conditions.
What happens if Bobby isn't the right fit?
Every reputable rescue accepts an animal back if the adoption genuinely doesn't work — that's part of the standard contract. Talk it through with Battersea Dogs & Cats Home early rather than rehoming privately; they know Bobby and can place them more successfully than a second-hand listing can.
Why does the description sometimes read awkwardly?
TailHarbor translates shelter descriptions into English from the source language (EN). Translation is imperfect — names of streets, donors, and shelter-specific terms occasionally slip through unidiomatically. For the cleanest read, click the source link to see the shelter's original page.
