Adopt León

Mastiff · Male

León ID No.: 1042415 Breed: Mastiff-mixed breed Age: approx. 04/2017 Gender: male Shoulder height: approx. 77 cm Neutered: Yes Location: Marbella (Spain) Inquiry form León – an imposing Mastiff with a heart, seeking an experienced home León (*approx. 04/2017, approx. 77 cm) is an impressive Mastiff-male dog with a friendly, energetic, and highly social nature. Since his arrival at our Spanish partner shelter Triple A Marbella, he has been waiting to finally find people who can offer him safety, structure, and a loving home. León is always overjoyed whenever volunteers come to take him for walks. He greatly enjoys these outings and shows himself eager to walk and attentive during them. Once León has built trust, he becomes a very affectionate dog who seeks closeness with his humans. He loves being petted and groomed and enjoys calm, shared moments. On the leash, he walks well and stays focused on his person. However, León is a dog with character and occasional bursts of temperament. Therefore, we are looking for an experienced home with people familiar with strong, confident dogs who can provide him with clear structure, boundaries, and loving guidance. Consistent, confident handling is very important for León so he can feel secure and balanced. We would like León to go to a home without children. He can either live as a single dog or be rehomed with a suitable, calm female dog. A quieter environment with sufficient space would be ideal for this large, powerful male dog. León is a dog who, with the right leadership, will become a loyal, devoted companion and offer his people great closeness and presence. Anyone bringing experience, patience, and heart will find in León a truly special dog. León is neutered, vaccinated, microchipped, and holds an EU pet passport. For travel arrangements, he has been tested for Mediterranean diseases and has been dewormed and treated for fleas. Impfungen Ja Mittelmeercheck Ja Microchip Ja Schutzgebühr 500 € inkl. About León

What life with León looks like

León is a extra-large adult mastiff dog waiting at Helfende Hände e.V. in Germany.

An adult dog fits most household rhythms once the first couple of weeks of adjustment pass. A larger dog like this one needs daily off-leash time when possible — a fenced yard or regular access to safe walking trails. Plan a "decompression fortnight" — quiet routine, no visitors, no off-leash adventures — to let them settle.

🇩🇪Adopting from Germany

German rescues typically require an in-person home visit (Vorkontrolle) or detailed video home check before approving adoption. Animals leave the shelter sterilized, microchipped, and with a valid EU pet passport. Adoption fees usually fall between €250 and €450, covering veterinary preparation.

Frequently asked

Adopting León, answered.

How do I contact the shelter about León?
Use the phone, email, or website link in the sidebar of this page. Helfende Hände e.V. handles screening and the adoption contract directly — TailHarbor doesn't broker the conversation. When you reach out, mention you saw León on TailHarbor so they know which animal you're asking about.
Can I adopt León if I live in another country?
Yes, in most cases. Rescues across Europe routinely place animals abroad — Helfende Hände e.V. will tell you what they need (EU pet passport, rabies titer, transport coordination) and whether they handle transport themselves or refer you to a partner. Plan for an extra €100–€350 in transport costs depending on distance.
Is León already vetted, vaccinated, and chipped?
Most dogs on TailHarbor leave their shelter with sterilization, current vaccinations, microchip ID, and an EU pet passport included in the adoption fee. The vet status on this page reflects what the shelter has reported — ask them directly if you need details on specific vaccines, recent bloodwork, or chronic conditions.
What happens if León isn't the right fit?
Every reputable rescue accepts an animal back if the adoption genuinely doesn't work — that's part of the standard contract. Talk it through with Helfende Hände e.V. early rather than rehoming privately; they know León and can place them more successfully than a second-hand listing can.
Why does the description sometimes read awkwardly?
TailHarbor translates shelter descriptions into English from the source language (DE). Translation is imperfect — names of streets, donors, and shelter-specific terms occasionally slip through unidiomatically. For the cleanest read, click the source link to see the shelter's original page.
