Adopt Leone

Mixed Breed · Male · Adult · 8 years

11-07-2018 - Leone is much better, eats and is slowly recovering. He has many health problems due to his age and the state of neglect in which he was kept. Nevertheless, he is a small dog who is calm, a patient old man. He sits in a corner and waits for affection, eats, sleeps, and is very good. 09-07-2018 - Leone is better, although he is very weak. We are still waiting for the test results. He eats and sleeps, and this is also a medicine for him. As soon as we have the results, we will update you, thank you for your support. 04-07-2018 - Leone was brought today to the animal shelter, rescued near Olbia, in the area of Plebi. He is a very old puppy. There's not much to add to these pictures, a tangle of fur completely matted that hid a feral cat colony of kittens. Sure, a lot of time has passed for him to end up in this condition. Where did this forgotten soul eat? Who saw him but didn't rescue him? Who allowed him to end up in this condition? Only human indifference. A very kind lady was concerned about him and despite the nauseous smell caused by the kittens, she didn't hesitate to rescue him. He is at our animal shelter. The first thing we did was to clean him from that mass of fur soaked in the smell of indifference. His dull eyes. Tomorrow he will undergo detailed tests. We named him Leone. Thank you to those who will support us, thank you to those who will not turn their gaze away.

I suoi occhi spenti.

About Leone

What life with Leone looks like

Leone is a adult mixed breed dog waiting at L.I.D.A. Olbia in Olbia.

An adult dog fits most household rhythms once the first couple of weeks of adjustment pass. Two reasonable walks a day plus play time is usually enough. Plan a "decompression fortnight" — quiet routine, no visitors, no off-leash adventures — to let them settle.

🇮🇹Adopting from Italy

Italian canili require adopters to sign a stewardship contract (affido) and may retain the right to verify the animal's wellbeing post-adoption. Animals are chipped and sterilized before leaving (Legge 281/91). Public canili rifugio typically waive adoption fees.

Frequently asked

Adopting Leone, answered.

How do I contact the shelter about Leone?
Use the phone, email, or website link in the sidebar of this page. L.I.D.A. Olbia handles screening and the adoption contract directly — TailHarbor doesn't broker the conversation. When you reach out, mention you saw Leone on TailHarbor so they know which animal you're asking about.
Can I adopt Leone if I live in another country?
Yes, in most cases. Rescues across Europe routinely place animals abroad — L.I.D.A. Olbia will tell you what they need (EU pet passport, rabies titer, transport coordination) and whether they handle transport themselves or refer you to a partner. Plan for an extra €100–€350 in transport costs depending on distance.
Is Leone already vetted, vaccinated, and chipped?
Most dogs on TailHarbor leave their shelter with sterilization, current vaccinations, microchip ID, and an EU pet passport included in the adoption fee. The vet status on this page reflects what the shelter has reported — ask them directly if you need details on specific vaccines, recent bloodwork, or chronic conditions.
What happens if Leone isn't the right fit?
Every reputable rescue accepts an animal back if the adoption genuinely doesn't work — that's part of the standard contract. Talk it through with L.I.D.A. Olbia early rather than rehoming privately; they know Leone and can place them more successfully than a second-hand listing can.
Why does the description sometimes read awkwardly?
TailHarbor translates shelter descriptions into English from the source language (IT). Translation is imperfect — names of streets, donors, and shelter-specific terms occasionally slip through unidiomatically. For the cleanest read, click the source link to see the shelter's original page.
