Leonie

Mixed Breed · Female · Adult · 4 years

Female, spayed, born around July 20, 2022, Papillon mix; height approx. 30 cm / weight approx. 4 kg. Foster home in Spain: Refugio Amposta. On July 18, 2026, Leonie, the lovely little dog, arrived at Monika’s refuge together with her friend Odette. At first, the two dogs were very withdrawn and it took them some time to gain trust and venture closer to Monika. Meanwhile, Leonie happily jumps onto the sofa next to Monika as soon as Monika sits down. She is a friendly, cheerful, and lively little lady—indeed, even a bit of a little rascal. Leonie lives indoors and is currently getting to know both big and small dogs as well as cats. Unfortunately, we don’t know where she lived before or why she was given up. We envision the enchanting Leonie thriving with active people who can understand the needs of a dog from animal welfare and give her plenty of time to settle in. Leonie would love to go for walks in nature and experience new adventures together. This lively dog still has much to learn about all the basics of dog behavior and, despite being a small dog, she craves mental stimulation. If you’d like to give this charming creature a forever home, please feel free to contact us by email.

Weiblich, reist kastriert Geboren ca. 20.07.2022 Papillon Mischling Höhe ca. 30 cm / Gewicht ca. 4 kgPflegestelle Spanien: Refugio AmpostaAm 18.

About Leonie

What life with Leonie looks like

Leonie is a medium-sized adult mixed breed dog waiting at ANDANA Pfotenhilfe Schweiz in Switzerland.

An adult dog fits most household rhythms once the first couple of weeks of adjustment pass. Two reasonable walks a day plus play time is usually enough. Plan a "decompression fortnight" — quiet routine, no visitors, no off-leash adventures — to let them settle.

🇨🇭Adopting from Switzerland

Swiss shelters require a home visit (Platzkontrolle) and proof of suitable accommodation. Cantons each have their own additional dog-keeping requirements (e.g. SKN training in some areas). Animals leave sterilized and chipped.

Frequently asked

Adopting Leonie, answered.

How do I contact the shelter about Leonie?
Use the phone, email, or website link in the sidebar of this page. ANDANA Pfotenhilfe Schweiz handles screening and the adoption contract directly — TailHarbor doesn't broker the conversation. When you reach out, mention you saw Leonie on TailHarbor so they know which animal you're asking about.
Can I adopt Leonie if I live in another country?
Yes, in most cases. Rescues across Europe routinely place animals abroad — ANDANA Pfotenhilfe Schweiz will tell you what they need (EU pet passport, rabies titer, transport coordination) and whether they handle transport themselves or refer you to a partner. Plan for an extra €100–€350 in transport costs depending on distance.
Is Leonie already vetted, vaccinated, and chipped?
Most dogs on TailHarbor leave their shelter with sterilization, current vaccinations, microchip ID, and an EU pet passport included in the adoption fee. The vet status on this page reflects what the shelter has reported — ask them directly if you need details on specific vaccines, recent bloodwork, or chronic conditions.
What happens if Leonie isn't the right fit?
Every reputable rescue accepts an animal back if the adoption genuinely doesn't work — that's part of the standard contract. Talk it through with ANDANA Pfotenhilfe Schweiz early rather than rehoming privately; they know Leonie and can place them more successfully than a second-hand listing can.
Why does the description sometimes read awkwardly?
TailHarbor translates shelter descriptions into English from the source language (DE). Translation is imperfect — names of streets, donors, and shelter-specific terms occasionally slip through unidiomatically. For the cleanest read, click the source link to see the shelter's original page.
