Adopt Leter

Mixed Breed · Unknown

Hello, my name is Leter. I am a small, a few-year-old dog. My adventure with the animal shelter began on May 13, 2023, after I was brought in by a man who claimed I had been wandering around near Madei Street for a week. I was brought in a plastic container covered with a board, and the entire container was reinforced with straps so I couldn't get out. According to the man's statement, I was jumping at everyone in the air, especially at his granddaughter. After a few days of being accepted, the staff decided to take some gradual steps, observing how stressed I was, waiting until my emotions calmed down. Now it's much better, I really like the company of other dogs, my younger friend approaches me for play and somehow time passes faster. I don't cause many problems, but it's clear that I have a very distorted image of the proper relationship that should exist between a person and a dog. A lot of time and work will be needed to rebuild this. However, I hope that because I observe my colleagues, I will be able to overcome myself and try to establish a normal, free relationship with someone. It definitely hasn't confirmed that I jump into biting. I need time, the possibility of predicting what is going to happen to me next, monotony is very necessary in such situations. I'm waiting for an experienced and patient caregiver. I won't be a recommended dog for families with children, especially with small children. I have current vaccinations, deworming. I was microchipped, I have already had the neutering procedure. I'll let you know if something happens to me, or best of all if I go to a new home, keep your fingers crossed :)

Wiele trzeba będzie poświęcić czasu i pracy, aby to odbudować. Posiadam aktualne szczepienia, odrobaczenie.

About Leter

What life with Leter looks like

Leter is a adult mixed breed dog waiting at Schronisko Zabrze in Zabrze.

An adult dog fits most household rhythms once the first couple of weeks of adjustment pass. Two reasonable walks a day plus play time is usually enough. Plan a "decompression fortnight" — quiet routine, no visitors, no off-leash adventures — to let them settle.

🇵🇱Adopting from Poland

Polish shelters maintain established transport routes to Germany, Netherlands, Austria, and Sweden. Animals leave sterilized and chipped. Adoption fees are typically lower than in Western Europe (often €50–€150) but adopters cover transport.

Frequently asked

Adopting Leter, answered.

How do I contact the shelter about Leter?
Use the phone, email, or website link in the sidebar of this page. Schronisko Zabrze handles screening and the adoption contract directly — TailHarbor doesn't broker the conversation. When you reach out, mention you saw Leter on TailHarbor so they know which animal you're asking about.
Can I adopt Leter if I live in another country?
Yes, in most cases. Rescues across Europe routinely place animals abroad — Schronisko Zabrze will tell you what they need (EU pet passport, rabies titer, transport coordination) and whether they handle transport themselves or refer you to a partner. Plan for an extra €100–€350 in transport costs depending on distance.
Is Leter already vetted, vaccinated, and chipped?
Most dogs on TailHarbor leave their shelter with sterilization, current vaccinations, microchip ID, and an EU pet passport included in the adoption fee. The vet status on this page reflects what the shelter has reported — ask them directly if you need details on specific vaccines, recent bloodwork, or chronic conditions.
What happens if Leter isn't the right fit?
Every reputable rescue accepts an animal back if the adoption genuinely doesn't work — that's part of the standard contract. Talk it through with Schronisko Zabrze early rather than rehoming privately; they know Leter and can place them more successfully than a second-hand listing can.
Why does the description sometimes read awkwardly?
TailHarbor translates shelter descriptions into English from the source language (PL). Translation is imperfect — names of streets, donors, and shelter-specific terms occasionally slip through unidiomatically. For the cleanest read, click the source link to see the shelter's original page.
