Adopt Levis

Cane Corso · Male · Adult · 6 years

At the animal shelter since: 08.08.2020 Child-friendly: yes, if they are older Dogs-friendly: yes - but not in the same household Cat-friendly: rather not All-day-tail-wagging-aptitude-test (ATP): passed together with his volunteer walker Kathi Levis is a lively dog with a little mischievous spirit. It will be important for his future owner to meet him with calmness and consistency. Once he has earned his respect and trust, this gentle giant will seek his person's attention and loves to snuggle. The playful male dog loves his plush toys and balls and can be motivated to play nicely. He also loves hide-and-seek games and goes regularly with great motivation to Man Trailing with one of his caregivers. He gets along with other dogs only by mutual liking and it doesn't hurt to work on his social behavior through targeted training. Levis has already learned the basic commands quite well and he also goes very calmly on the leash. Only sometimes his stubbornness comes to the fore and he needs a little more time to put it into practice. For the handsome Cane-Corno-mix, we are looking for a new home with a garden for dog-experienced people. There should be no cats or other animals in the household. Since Levis has a very energetic nature and is not fully aware of his weight and size, there should also be no small children in the house.

About Levis

What life with Levis looks like

Levis is a extra-large adult cane corso dog waiting at Tierheim Wels in Wels.

An adult dog fits most household rhythms once the first couple of weeks of adjustment pass. A larger dog like this one needs daily off-leash time when possible — a fenced yard or regular access to safe walking trails. Plan a "decompression fortnight" — quiet routine, no visitors, no off-leash adventures — to let them settle.

Note from the shelter: Needs house with garden, no other pets, experienced owners only due to size and boisterous nature

🇦🇹Adopting from Austria

Austrian shelters follow the federal Tierschutzgesetz framework: adopters sign a Schutzvertrag (protection contract) committing to the animal's welfare. Spay/neuter, microchip, and vaccinations are included; fees typically range €150–€350.

Frequently asked

Adopting Levis, answered.

How do I contact the shelter about Levis?
Use the phone, email, or website link in the sidebar of this page. Tierheim Wels handles screening and the adoption contract directly — TailHarbor doesn't broker the conversation. When you reach out, mention you saw Levis on TailHarbor so they know which animal you're asking about.
Can I adopt Levis if I live in another country?
Yes, in most cases. Rescues across Europe routinely place animals abroad — Tierheim Wels will tell you what they need (EU pet passport, rabies titer, transport coordination) and whether they handle transport themselves or refer you to a partner. Plan for an extra €100–€350 in transport costs depending on distance.
Is Levis already vetted, vaccinated, and chipped?
Most dogs on TailHarbor leave their shelter with sterilization, current vaccinations, microchip ID, and an EU pet passport included in the adoption fee. The vet status on this page reflects what the shelter has reported — ask them directly if you need details on specific vaccines, recent bloodwork, or chronic conditions.
What happens if Levis isn't the right fit?
Every reputable rescue accepts an animal back if the adoption genuinely doesn't work — that's part of the standard contract. Talk it through with Tierheim Wels early rather than rehoming privately; they know Levis and can place them more successfully than a second-hand listing can.
Why does the description sometimes read awkwardly?
TailHarbor translates shelter descriptions into English from the source language (DE). Translation is imperfect — names of streets, donors, and shelter-specific terms occasionally slip through unidiomatically. For the cleanest read, click the source link to see the shelter's original page.
