Leya

Mixed Breed · Female · Puppy · 7 months

Leya, born approximately March 2026, female, unspayed, estimated to be fully grown at about 50 cm shoulder height, has been with Diana since May 2026. Leya was found and taken in by Diana along with some other puppies, as they would not have had a chance to survive on the street. Unfortunately, we do not know much about her past. Despite this, Leya has retained her loving and cheerful nature. She is a really funny young dog who quickly wins over all hearts with her friendly nature and positive energy. She is open, curious, and people-oriented. She discovers the world with great joy and brings everything with her that is typical of a puppy: playful, lovable, and tolerant. She also gets along very well with other dogs and cats, showing herself to be social and uncomplicated in her interactions. Now she is looking for a loving home with people who will show her with patience and empathy how beautiful a sheltered dog life can be. People who enjoy discovering the world with her, teaching her the basics of dog behavior step by step, and giving her security and comfort. Whoever lets her into their heart will gain a loyal companion who brings a lot of joy and love into everyday life with her cheerful nature. Currently located in Romania and allowed to leave if a home is found. Travels with a microchip and vaccinations (EU vaccination passport; vaccinations: rabies and basic immunization). All dogs are treated against intestinal parasites and ectoparasites on arrival at the shelter and at least once a year thereafter. The behavioral observations described are based on everyday life in the shelter and may be different in a domestic environment under changed living conditions. The transport (registered with Traces) will be organized and carried out by us, as far as legally possible for the destination country. Please note the information on this page.

About Leya

What life with Leya looks like

Leya is a medium-sized puppy mixed breed dog waiting at Hope for Future e.V. in Germany.

Puppies need routine, gentle socialization, and roughly two short outings a day for the first year. The first six months are the formative window — house-training, leash work, and quiet exposure to traffic, other dogs, and unfamiliar people happen now or not at all. Expect early-morning wake-ups and a few months of chewing.

🇩🇪Adopting from Germany

German rescues typically require an in-person home visit (Vorkontrolle) or detailed video home check before approving adoption. Dogs and cats typically leave the shelter sterilized, microchipped, and with an EU pet passport.

Frequently asked

Adopting Leya, answered.

How do I contact the shelter about Leya?
Use the phone, email, or website link in the sidebar of this page. Hope for Future e.V. handles screening and the adoption contract directly — TailHarbor doesn't broker the conversation. When you reach out, mention you saw Leya on TailHarbor so they know which animal you're asking about.
Can I adopt Leya if I live in another country?
Yes, in most cases. Rescues across Europe routinely place animals abroad — Hope for Future e.V. will tell you what they need (EU pet passport, rabies titer, transport coordination) and whether they handle transport themselves or refer you to a partner. Transport is usually a separate cost, so ask for the exact figure before you commit.
Is Leya already vetted, vaccinated, and chipped?
Most dogs on TailHarbor leave their shelter with sterilization, current vaccinations, microchip ID, and an EU pet passport included in the adoption fee. The vet status on this page reflects what the shelter has reported — ask them directly if you need details on specific vaccines, recent bloodwork, or chronic conditions.
What happens if Leya isn't the right fit?
Every reputable rescue accepts an animal back if the adoption genuinely doesn't work — that's part of the standard contract. Talk it through with Hope for Future e.V. early rather than rehoming privately; they know Leya and can place them more successfully than a second-hand listing can.
Why does the description sometimes read awkwardly?
TailHarbor translates shelter descriptions into English from the source language (DE). Translation is imperfect — names of streets, donors, and shelter-specific terms occasionally slip through unidiomatically. For the cleanest read, click the source link to see the shelter's original page.
