Lidina

European Shorthair · Unknown · Young · 1 year

Life as a street cat is dangerous. It's already tough enough for a single cat to find a safe place – but how desperate must a pregnant mother be, searching for shelter for herself and her unborn kittens and finding nowhere? Lidina was discovered pregnant near a busy street. If she had given birth there, her chances of survival would have been even slimmer. Fortunately, attentive people did not look away and brought her to L.I.D.A., the large animal shelter in Olbia. We ourselves were on the scene shortly after her arrival and got to know Lidina a little. Then, with a round belly and just about to give birth, she was relaxed in her cage – almost as if she knew she had finally found a safe place where her kittens could enter the world without danger. She enjoyed our attention, willingly let us stroke her head, and curiously observed who had come to visit her. Shortly after our departure, we received the good news: Lidina had given birth to her babies safely. In the past weeks, she has devoted herself tirelessly to her offspring. Now it is time for the sweet kitten to be the center of attention again. For the approximately 1.5-year-old Lidina, we are now searching for a loving home where she will never again go hungry and where she will receive the care she so deserves. After an appropriate settling-in period, she should also be allowed a roam in a traffic-free environment. Lidina also wishes for feline company. In the new home, there should already be at least one similarly aged cat – or she would be happy to bring a friend from Sardinia. Would you like to give the pretty tri-colored kitten a soft dog bed, security, and lots of cuddles? Then please get in touch with me. This cat needs outdoor access. This animal is vaccinated. This animal is microchipped. This cat's FIV status applies — see shelter for details.

About Lidina

What life with Lidina looks like

Lidina is a large young adult european shorthair cat waiting at PfotenFreunde Sardinien e.V. in Germany.

An adult cat usually shows their personality within a week. Give them a quiet room with everything they need (food, water, litter, hiding spot) and let them choose when to explore. Don't force interaction — every cat decides for themselves when a new home counts as home.

🇩🇪Adopting from Germany

German rescues typically require an in-person home visit (Vorkontrolle) or detailed video home check before approving adoption. Animals leave the shelter sterilized, microchipped, and with a valid EU pet passport. Adoption fees usually fall between €250 and €450, covering veterinary preparation.

Frequently asked

Adopting Lidina, answered.

How do I contact the shelter about Lidina?
Use the phone, email, or website link in the sidebar of this page. PfotenFreunde Sardinien e.V. handles screening and the adoption contract directly — TailHarbor doesn't broker the conversation. When you reach out, mention you saw Lidina on TailHarbor so they know which animal you're asking about.
Can I adopt Lidina if I live in another country?
Yes, in most cases. Rescues across Europe routinely place animals abroad — PfotenFreunde Sardinien e.V. will tell you what they need (EU pet passport, rabies titer, transport coordination) and whether they handle transport themselves or refer you to a partner. Plan for an extra €100–€350 in transport costs depending on distance.
Is Lidina already vetted, vaccinated, and chipped?
Most cats on TailHarbor leave their shelter with sterilization, current vaccinations, microchip ID, and an EU pet passport included in the adoption fee. The vet status on this page reflects what the shelter has reported — ask them directly if you need details on specific vaccines, recent bloodwork, or chronic conditions.
What happens if Lidina isn't the right fit?
Every reputable rescue accepts an animal back if the adoption genuinely doesn't work — that's part of the standard contract. Talk it through with PfotenFreunde Sardinien e.V. early rather than rehoming privately; they know Lidina and can place them more successfully than a second-hand listing can.
Why does the description sometimes read awkwardly?
TailHarbor translates shelter descriptions into English from the source language (DE). Translation is imperfect — names of streets, donors, and shelter-specific terms occasionally slip through unidiomatically. For the cleanest read, click the source link to see the shelter's original page.
