Adopt Lieber Ängstlicher Bodo

Mixed Breed · Male · Adult · 5 years

Bodo – a small anxious rabbit seeks a quiet and experienced home as a single prince. Bodo, now five years old, was released with his siblings on a field in Romania in 2021 as a puppy. Animal welfare workers saved the puppies and housed them in their private shelter. Bodo’s siblings found homes in Germany as puppies or young dogs… but he remained and spent over four years in the shelter. Recently, Bodo was attacked by another dog and sustained a large flesh wound. This incident was his ticket to a new life: To avoid returning to the shelter after treatment at the vet clinic, he traveled to a foster home in NRW. Since April 25, Bodo has been in Germany with his foster family. There, he lives with three other, super social dogs who are used to foster dogs coming from Romania and who also meet new, anxious arrivals with much patience and restraint. The bite incident in Romania, however, has obviously strongly affected Bodo – he is now afraid of all fellow animals and does not really progress in the foster home. He also does not really venture to move freely around the house and garden due to the other dogs. Bodo is also very reserved towards people – which is not really surprising, as he had limited contact with the few people who cared for the dogs in the shelter for years. But he is not aggressive, allows being handled, and can wear a safety harness; he also goes for walks with the foster family (without the other dogs). We are looking for a quiet, dog-experienced, and patient home without other dogs where Bodo can take the time to settle in and build trust. Bodo is not a lost cause – in the right home with the right people, he will surely blossom. Bodo can be visited at 33142 Büren. Children: yes, from school age. Address:

About Lieber Ängstlicher Bodo

What life with Lieber Ängstlicher Bodo looks like

Lieber Ängstlicher Bodo is a small adult mixed breed dog waiting at Free Dogs - Vergessene Tiere in Not e.V. in Großefehn.

An adult dog fits most household rhythms once the first couple of weeks of adjustment pass. Two reasonable walks a day plus play time is usually enough. Plan a "decompression fortnight" — quiet routine, no visitors, no off-leash adventures — to let them settle.

🇩🇪Adopting from Germany

German rescues typically require an in-person home visit (Vorkontrolle) or detailed video home check before approving adoption. Animals leave the shelter sterilized, microchipped, and with a valid EU pet passport. Adoption fees usually fall between €250 and €450, covering veterinary preparation.

Frequently asked

Adopting Lieber Ängstlicher Bodo, answered.

How do I contact the shelter about Lieber Ängstlicher Bodo?
Use the phone, email, or website link in the sidebar of this page. Free Dogs - Vergessene Tiere in Not e.V. handles screening and the adoption contract directly — TailHarbor doesn't broker the conversation. When you reach out, mention you saw Lieber Ängstlicher Bodo on TailHarbor so they know which animal you're asking about.
Can I adopt Lieber Ängstlicher Bodo if I live in another country?
Yes, in most cases. Rescues across Europe routinely place animals abroad — Free Dogs - Vergessene Tiere in Not e.V. will tell you what they need (EU pet passport, rabies titer, transport coordination) and whether they handle transport themselves or refer you to a partner. Plan for an extra €100–€350 in transport costs depending on distance.
Is Lieber Ängstlicher Bodo already vetted, vaccinated, and chipped?
Most dogs on TailHarbor leave their shelter with sterilization, current vaccinations, microchip ID, and an EU pet passport included in the adoption fee. The vet status on this page reflects what the shelter has reported — ask them directly if you need details on specific vaccines, recent bloodwork, or chronic conditions.
What happens if Lieber Ängstlicher Bodo isn't the right fit?
Every reputable rescue accepts an animal back if the adoption genuinely doesn't work — that's part of the standard contract. Talk it through with Free Dogs - Vergessene Tiere in Not e.V. early rather than rehoming privately; they know Lieber Ängstlicher Bodo and can place them more successfully than a second-hand listing can.
Why does the description sometimes read awkwardly?
TailHarbor translates shelter descriptions into English from the source language (DE). Translation is imperfect — names of streets, donors, and shelter-specific terms occasionally slip through unidiomatically. For the cleanest read, click the source link to see the shelter's original page.
