LILITH

Female · Senior · 9 years

Estimated date of birth: September 2016 Brief profile: friendly, adventurous, curious, outgoing, cuddly, family-oriented, older children welcome. In early July 2026, animal shelter director Kata came across a Facebook post in which someone was looking to give away their two already elderly dachshunds. The siblings Lilith and Tappi, born in September 2016 according to the previous owner, had spent their entire lives until then living on a chain in the garden. Unimaginable... Kata couldn't get them out of her mind, as she could already picture them spending the rest of their lives chained up or confined to a kennel. So she contacted the owners and offered to take the puppies into her care, giving them the chance to experience at last how wonderful a dog's life can be in a loving home. It's amazing how friendly and cheerful these two canine siblings have remained. You can still tell that they weren't used to human affection or attention—initially, they didn't respond much to attempts to win them over. But gradually, they're starting to understand that people are offering them petting or even a tasty treat now and then :-). And so they're learning that interacting with humans is definitely worth it. They're already walking quite well on the leash and are thrilled to sniff around their surroundings and finally explore the world—at least within a small radius. During an initial compatibility test with other dogs, Lilith appeared somewhat tense. Since she'd lived on a chain all her life, she probably never had much contact with other dogs apart from Tappi and now needs to learn about it step by step. That's why we're now looking for loving people with solid dog-experience for the charming Lilith (as well as for her brother Tappi)—people who'd love to show this little lady the whole wide world and help her learn all the important things needed for a relaxed dog life. Lilith will move into her new home spayed, microchipped, vaccinated, dewormed, and equipped with an EU pet passport. Would you like to offer this adventurous little lady a wonderful home? Then we'd be delighted to hear from you! The best way to do this is to use our self-disclosure form right away (or alternatively, you can also use our contact form).

About LILITH

What life with LILITH looks like

LILITH is a small senior dog waiting at Pfotenretter Ungarn in Pfotenretter.

Senior dogs settle in faster than younger ones. They want a soft bed, predictable meals, and short, sniff-heavy walks rather than runs. Many senior rescues bond deeply within weeks because they understand exactly how good a stable home is. Expect occasional vet visits for joint or dental care.

🇨🇭Adopting from Switzerland

Swiss shelters require a home visit (Platzkontrolle) and proof of suitable accommodation. Cantons each have their own additional dog-keeping requirements (e.g. SKN training in some areas). Animals leave sterilized and chipped.

Frequently asked

Adopting LILITH, answered.

How do I contact the shelter about LILITH?
Use the phone, email, or website link in the sidebar of this page. Pfotenretter Ungarn handles screening and the adoption contract directly — TailHarbor doesn't broker the conversation. When you reach out, mention you saw LILITH on TailHarbor so they know which animal you're asking about.
Can I adopt LILITH if I live in another country?
Yes, in most cases. Rescues across Europe routinely place animals abroad — Pfotenretter Ungarn will tell you what they need (EU pet passport, rabies titer, transport coordination) and whether they handle transport themselves or refer you to a partner. Plan for an extra €100–€350 in transport costs depending on distance.
Is LILITH already vetted, vaccinated, and chipped?
Most dogs on TailHarbor leave their shelter with sterilization, current vaccinations, microchip ID, and an EU pet passport included in the adoption fee. The vet status on this page reflects what the shelter has reported — ask them directly if you need details on specific vaccines, recent bloodwork, or chronic conditions.
What happens if LILITH isn't the right fit?
Every reputable rescue accepts an animal back if the adoption genuinely doesn't work — that's part of the standard contract. Talk it through with Pfotenretter Ungarn early rather than rehoming privately; they know LILITH and can place them more successfully than a second-hand listing can.
Why does the description sometimes read awkwardly?
TailHarbor translates shelter descriptions into English from the source language (DE). Translation is imperfect — names of streets, donors, and shelter-specific terms occasionally slip through unidiomatically. For the cleanest read, click the source link to see the shelter's original page.
