Adopt LILJA

Mixed Breed · Female · Young · 3 years

LILJA – small Mama with deep eyes❣️ I am LILJA – a delicate, small female dog with a heart that has seen more than it should. My name means "the Lily" – a symbol for purity, hope, and new beginnings. And that is exactly what I wish for: a new beginning that finally gives me hope. I am the mother of 6 puppies. Six little lives that I have protected with all my love. Two of them I lost to Parvovirus – a pain that is almost beyond words. But I kept fighting, for my other four, for myself, for our future. Now my little ones are on their own legs… and I can think of myself. I am ready to find my own home now. I am a loving, open, and gentle female dog. I approach people kindly, enjoy closeness, take pleasure in every attention, and learn quickly. All I wish for is a life where I do not have to fight anymore – but simply be a dog. A family member. A heart on four legs. I dream of people who see me. Who show me how beautiful a day-to-day life can be when you belong. Who give me security, patience, warmth, and a little bit of adventure. I am small enough to be everywhere – and big enough to fill your heart. A home would be the greatest gift for me. A place where I am not just "the Mama," but your LILJA – a dog girl who is loved. Maybe my happy ending is waiting for me right with you. Maybe I am exactly the little soul that is missing in your life.

About LILJA

What life with LILJA looks like

LILJA is a medium-sized young adult mixed breed dog waiting at Ein Herz für Fellnasen e.V. in Waakirchen.

An young adult dog fits most household rhythms once the first couple of weeks of adjustment pass. Two reasonable walks a day plus play time is usually enough. Plan a "decompression fortnight" — quiet routine, no visitors, no off-leash adventures — to let them settle.

🇩🇪Adopting from Germany

German rescues typically require an in-person home visit (Vorkontrolle) or detailed video home check before approving adoption. Animals leave the shelter sterilized, microchipped, and with a valid EU pet passport. Adoption fees usually fall between €250 and €450, covering veterinary preparation.

Frequently asked

Adopting LILJA, answered.

How do I contact the shelter about LILJA?
Use the phone, email, or website link in the sidebar of this page. Ein Herz für Fellnasen e.V. handles screening and the adoption contract directly — TailHarbor doesn't broker the conversation. When you reach out, mention you saw LILJA on TailHarbor so they know which animal you're asking about.
Can I adopt LILJA if I live in another country?
Yes, in most cases. Rescues across Europe routinely place animals abroad — Ein Herz für Fellnasen e.V. will tell you what they need (EU pet passport, rabies titer, transport coordination) and whether they handle transport themselves or refer you to a partner. Plan for an extra €100–€350 in transport costs depending on distance.
Is LILJA already vetted, vaccinated, and chipped?
Most dogs on TailHarbor leave their shelter with sterilization, current vaccinations, microchip ID, and an EU pet passport included in the adoption fee. The vet status on this page reflects what the shelter has reported — ask them directly if you need details on specific vaccines, recent bloodwork, or chronic conditions.
What happens if LILJA isn't the right fit?
Every reputable rescue accepts an animal back if the adoption genuinely doesn't work — that's part of the standard contract. Talk it through with Ein Herz für Fellnasen e.V. early rather than rehoming privately; they know LILJA and can place them more successfully than a second-hand listing can.
Why does the description sometimes read awkwardly?
TailHarbor translates shelter descriptions into English from the source language (DE). Translation is imperfect — names of streets, donors, and shelter-specific terms occasionally slip through unidiomatically. For the cleanest read, click the source link to see the shelter's original page.
