Lotta

Mixed Breed · Female · Adult · 5 years

Malinois female dog Lotta is looking for a new home. Lotta is generally a very obedient dog but can also be easily distracted. She does not have the extreme drive for constant "work" that is often seen in this breed, but she still loves being challenged and kept busy. She enjoys activity – for example, she can run alongside a bicycle without any problem and generally enjoys when you do things with her. In the house, however, she is very calm. She can settle down well in her place and has an overall relaxed character. At the same time, she is very cuddly and seeks a lot of physical closeness. She is very friendly towards people, both familiar and strangers. However, strangers are only really no problem for her if someone she knows is present. Lotta has a strong protective instinct and is also territorial. Therefore, other dogs are not really her thing. She does not attack on her own initiative but clearly shows that she does not like other dogs around her. Additionally, she can become jealous quickly, for example, of other dogs or certain objects. This jealousy could potentially extend to children as well. This has not happened yet, but it should be kept in mind. If caught early, a clear command usually suffices, and she will withdraw from the situation because she listens well to commands. However, this works less well if a situation has already escalated too far. Apart from this behavior, she is a patient dog with a generally calm nature who likes to be active, wants to be kept busy, and at the same time seeks a lot of closeness with her people. Lotta is looking for a dog-experienced family, preferably without small children. Lotta was born in 2021, is not neutered, is microchipped, and has basic immunization vaccinations. She is located in Rhauderfehn. She will be adopted for an adoption fee of 200 Euros. Anyone interested in Lotta should please contact Herr Walker at the phone number . About Lotta

What life with Lotta looks like

Lotta is a adult mixed breed dog waiting at Tierschutzverein Ammerland e.V. in Westerstede.

An adult dog fits most household rhythms once the first couple of weeks of adjustment pass. Two reasonable walks a day plus play time is usually enough. Plan a "decompression fortnight" — quiet routine, no visitors, no off-leash adventures — to let them settle.

🇩🇪Adopting from Germany

German rescues typically require an in-person home visit (Vorkontrolle) or detailed video home check before approving adoption. Animals leave the shelter sterilized, microchipped, and with a valid EU pet passport. Adoption fees usually fall between €250 and €450, covering veterinary preparation.

Frequently asked

Adopting Lotta, answered.

How do I contact the shelter about Lotta?
Use the phone, email, or website link in the sidebar of this page. Tierschutzverein Ammerland e.V. handles screening and the adoption contract directly — TailHarbor doesn't broker the conversation. When you reach out, mention you saw Lotta on TailHarbor so they know which animal you're asking about.
Can I adopt Lotta if I live in another country?
Yes, in most cases. Rescues across Europe routinely place animals abroad — Tierschutzverein Ammerland e.V. will tell you what they need (EU pet passport, rabies titer, transport coordination) and whether they handle transport themselves or refer you to a partner. Plan for an extra €100–€350 in transport costs depending on distance.
Is Lotta already vetted, vaccinated, and chipped?
Most dogs on TailHarbor leave their shelter with sterilization, current vaccinations, microchip ID, and an EU pet passport included in the adoption fee. The vet status on this page reflects what the shelter has reported — ask them directly if you need details on specific vaccines, recent bloodwork, or chronic conditions.
What happens if Lotta isn't the right fit?
Every reputable rescue accepts an animal back if the adoption genuinely doesn't work — that's part of the standard contract. Talk it through with Tierschutzverein Ammerland e.V. early rather than rehoming privately; they know Lotta and can place them more successfully than a second-hand listing can.
Why does the description sometimes read awkwardly?
TailHarbor translates shelter descriptions into English from the source language (DE). Translation is imperfect — names of streets, donors, and shelter-specific terms occasionally slip through unidiomatically. For the cleanest read, click the source link to see the shelter's original page.
