Adopt LILLY

Mixed Breed · Female · Adult · 7 years

Breed: mixed breed Project: Greece/Lesbos (0, 11/2022) Gender: female/neutered Age: born 10.01.2022 Size: approx. 40 cm Weight: approx. 12 kg Other: very cuddly, social with other dogs, loves children, agile Current location: foster home in Feuchtwangen/Bavaria LILLY's Story "Good-Mood-Female Dog" LILLY came into the world with bent hind legs and underwent an operation on her left hind leg in February. Through this operation, LILLY was given a significant part of her quality of life, but she will not become completely healthy through this. With a small dose of pain medication, she can lead a good and beautiful life. LILLY is compatible with other dogs but also enjoys having her people to herself. At first, she is a bit skeptical with strangers but warms up quickly. She loves children and shows it enthusiastically, so the children in the new home should be well-behaved. LILLY places great value on cuddle and snuggle sessions and enjoys them thoroughly. Once LILLY is settled, she is also vigilant. LILLY has power but, due to her disability, is not suitable for extremely sporty people; smaller walks and games in the garden are more than enough, and larger sporting activities would physically overwhelm her. Head work, however, would definitely make her happy. Overall, LILLY is a totally lovable dog who brings a great enrichment to life; she is always in a good mood and is happy every day to be with her people. Cats and small pets should not live in the new home due to her hunting instinct. So, this is how the home for LILLY should look: We wish for LILLY an apartment with an enclosed garden, loving but also consistent people who meet her needs, have plenty of time for her, and do not view her disability as such. This is a current and accurate assessment of LILLY. How she will be in the future, especially after moving into a new home, we cannot predict. Every animal, like us humans, will change and continue to develop. LILLY is microchipped, vaccinated, treated against endo- and ectoparasites, tested for so-called Mediterranean diseases, and already neutered. One more small note at the end: LILLY, like any other dog of her age, still has many ideas in her head and tries to get her big head through in a very elegant way. Sympathy for the poor, disabled dog is definitely the wrong guide. LILLY has a physical limitation, not a mental one; she knows what she can and cannot do and can also carry it out well.

Rasse: Mischling Projekt: Griechenland/Lesbos (0, 11/2022) Geschlecht: weiblich/kastriert Alter: geb.

About LILLY

What life with LILLY looks like

LILLY is a medium-sized adult mixed breed dog waiting at Tierisch Grenzenlos e.V. in Bamberg.

An adult dog fits most household rhythms once the first couple of weeks of adjustment pass. Two reasonable walks a day plus play time is usually enough. Plan a "decompression fortnight" — quiet routine, no visitors, no off-leash adventures — to let them settle.

🇩🇪Adopting from Germany

German rescues typically require an in-person home visit (Vorkontrolle) or detailed video home check before approving adoption. Animals leave the shelter sterilized, microchipped, and with a valid EU pet passport. Adoption fees usually fall between €250 and €450, covering veterinary preparation.

Frequently asked

Adopting LILLY, answered.

How do I contact the shelter about LILLY?
Use the phone, email, or website link in the sidebar of this page. Tierisch Grenzenlos e.V. handles screening and the adoption contract directly — TailHarbor doesn't broker the conversation. When you reach out, mention you saw LILLY on TailHarbor so they know which animal you're asking about.
Can I adopt LILLY if I live in another country?
Yes, in most cases. Rescues across Europe routinely place animals abroad — Tierisch Grenzenlos e.V. will tell you what they need (EU pet passport, rabies titer, transport coordination) and whether they handle transport themselves or refer you to a partner. Plan for an extra €100–€350 in transport costs depending on distance.
Is LILLY already vetted, vaccinated, and chipped?
Most dogs on TailHarbor leave their shelter with sterilization, current vaccinations, microchip ID, and an EU pet passport included in the adoption fee. The vet status on this page reflects what the shelter has reported — ask them directly if you need details on specific vaccines, recent bloodwork, or chronic conditions.
What happens if LILLY isn't the right fit?
Every reputable rescue accepts an animal back if the adoption genuinely doesn't work — that's part of the standard contract. Talk it through with Tierisch Grenzenlos e.V. early rather than rehoming privately; they know LILLY and can place them more successfully than a second-hand listing can.
Why does the description sometimes read awkwardly?
TailHarbor translates shelter descriptions into English from the source language (DE). Translation is imperfect — names of streets, donors, and shelter-specific terms occasionally slip through unidiomatically. For the cleanest read, click the source link to see the shelter's original page.
