Lily

European Shorthair · Female · Adult · 4 years

I often see you rolling and playing as I pass by here. If there's a loud noise, I might get startled for a moment, but then quickly return to explore everything around me. When a stranger comes to visit me, I'll observe from a distance at first, but soon come closer to take a look. In a house, I love being mischievous. I adore playing and exploring, and I find it absolutely delightful to have my owner nearby. Once I get used to my new home, I enjoy going outside. Living with children isn't for me; they are too unpredictable, which makes me very uncertain and frightened. At first, I might need some time to adjust to a new situation, so my new owner should be patient about that. If you're interested in this wonderful cat, please send us an email with information such as your experience with cats, your living situation, and what you expect from your new housemate. Don't forget to include your phone number when you contact us.

About Lily

What life with Lily looks like

Lily is a adult european shorthair cat waiting at Dierenasiel Crailo in Hilversum.

An adult cat usually shows their personality within a week. Give them a quiet room with everything they need (food, water, litter, hiding spot) and let them choose when to explore. Don't force interaction — every cat decides for themselves when a new home counts as home.

🇳🇱Adopting from Netherlands

Dutch shelters typically require a household assessment and an adoption contract. Animals are routinely sterilized, microchipped, and registered in the national pet database (NDG) before placement.

Frequently asked

Adopting Lily, answered.

How do I contact the shelter about Lily?
Use the phone, email, or website link in the sidebar of this page. Dierenasiel Crailo handles screening and the adoption contract directly — TailHarbor doesn't broker the conversation. When you reach out, mention you saw Lily on TailHarbor so they know which animal you're asking about.
Can I adopt Lily if I live in another country?
Yes, in most cases. Rescues across Europe routinely place animals abroad — Dierenasiel Crailo will tell you what they need (EU pet passport, rabies titer, transport coordination) and whether they handle transport themselves or refer you to a partner. Plan for an extra €100–€350 in transport costs depending on distance.
Is Lily already vetted, vaccinated, and chipped?
Most cats on TailHarbor leave their shelter with sterilization, current vaccinations, microchip ID, and an EU pet passport included in the adoption fee. The vet status on this page reflects what the shelter has reported — ask them directly if you need details on specific vaccines, recent bloodwork, or chronic conditions.
What happens if Lily isn't the right fit?
Every reputable rescue accepts an animal back if the adoption genuinely doesn't work — that's part of the standard contract. Talk it through with Dierenasiel Crailo early rather than rehoming privately; they know Lily and can place them more successfully than a second-hand listing can.
Why does the description sometimes read awkwardly?
TailHarbor translates shelter descriptions into English from the source language (NL). Translation is imperfect — names of streets, donors, and shelter-specific terms occasionally slip through unidiomatically. For the cleanest read, click the source link to see the shelter's original page.
