Adopt LINA

Staffordshire Bull Terrier · Female · Senior · 12 years

The fate of dog grandma LINA touches us all deeply. She spent almost her entire life in a dreary cage in a Romanian animal shelter. The only shelter she had was a drafty, dilapidated wooden hut without straw, barely protecting her from rain and bitter cold. No walks, no toys, no warm blanket—year in, year out, without hope of a home. She grew older and sadder. Only when a young animal rescuer reached out to shelters in Austria or Germany last autumn, pleading for her to be taken in because LINA would not have survived another winter, did her fate turn. We brought the old female dog to us. LINA coughed severely and was in a life-threatening condition. But she turned out to be a determined fighter and immediately won our hearts with her effusive friendliness. Despite her arthritis, malformed front leg, lung problems, and other ailments, she did not give up; quite the opposite. She showed us every day that she wanted to live. She enjoys every pat, her warm, soft beds, her good food, her treats, and she loves car rides. LINA has the heart of a lioness; she takes everything life offers with joy and gratitude. She waited so long for her chance. We would so much like for our brave, generous, cuddly, and enchanting senior to still find her place in life as a single dog, with a garden and preferably barrier-free access. We would gladly cover all veterinary costs and food if LINA can still experience what a real home feels like, with loving people, security, and lots of cuddles. A foster home or, ideally, a permanent placement where she can stay forever is sought.

About LINA

What life with LINA looks like

LINA is a large senior staffordshire bull terrier dog waiting at Tierheim Krems in Krems an der Donau.

Senior dogs settle in faster than younger ones. They want a soft bed, predictable meals, and short, sniff-heavy walks rather than runs. Many senior rescues bond deeply within weeks because they understand exactly how good a stable home is. Expect occasional vet visits for joint or dental care.

🇦🇹Adopting from Austria

Austrian shelters follow the federal Tierschutzgesetz framework: adopters sign a Schutzvertrag (protection contract) committing to the animal's welfare. Spay/neuter, microchip, and vaccinations are included; fees typically range €150–€350.

Frequently asked

Adopting LINA, answered.

How do I contact the shelter about LINA?
Use the phone, email, or website link in the sidebar of this page. Tierheim Krems handles screening and the adoption contract directly — TailHarbor doesn't broker the conversation. When you reach out, mention you saw LINA on TailHarbor so they know which animal you're asking about.
Can I adopt LINA if I live in another country?
Yes, in most cases. Rescues across Europe routinely place animals abroad — Tierheim Krems will tell you what they need (EU pet passport, rabies titer, transport coordination) and whether they handle transport themselves or refer you to a partner. Plan for an extra €100–€350 in transport costs depending on distance.
Is LINA already vetted, vaccinated, and chipped?
Most dogs on TailHarbor leave their shelter with sterilization, current vaccinations, microchip ID, and an EU pet passport included in the adoption fee. The vet status on this page reflects what the shelter has reported — ask them directly if you need details on specific vaccines, recent bloodwork, or chronic conditions.
What happens if LINA isn't the right fit?
Every reputable rescue accepts an animal back if the adoption genuinely doesn't work — that's part of the standard contract. Talk it through with Tierheim Krems early rather than rehoming privately; they know LINA and can place them more successfully than a second-hand listing can.
Why does the description sometimes read awkwardly?
TailHarbor translates shelter descriptions into English from the source language (DE). Translation is imperfect — names of streets, donors, and shelter-specific terms occasionally slip through unidiomatically. For the cleanest read, click the source link to see the shelter's original page.
