Linda &#8211

Mixed Breed · Female · Adult · 8 years

Linda is 8 years old, loves playing and swimming, she adores people and enjoys snuggling, she knows what it's like to live in a house—and she waits at the animal shelter of our friends at ArcoNatura for a chance to find a real home again. Linda's owner has passed away, her children can't or won't take care of the little female dog, and for several weeks the tender princess had to endure being alone in a barn because no one knew what to do with the grieving best friend of the father… Fortunately, the animal welfare workers at ArcoNatura became aware of the difficult situation of the friendly and very quiet snuggly ball, and so Linda at least could move into the animal shelter. Under the care of our friends, Linda has overcome her grief and is now ready to start anew. The friendly female dog is currently being treated with Glucantime for her leishmaniasis, which was triggered by her time in the barn, but Linda is already symptom-free and will likely only need a few months of the very cost-effective Allopurinol after the leishmaniasis therapy. Leishmaniasis is not curable, but it is usually very well controlled with regular checks, and can be treated in the event of a flare-up. We recommend, however, that you familiarize yourself with the care of dogs with leishmaniasis before adopting one, and also ensure that there is a vet nearby who is familiar with the progression of Mediterranean diseases. Linda is searching for a happy home. The number, size, and age of her new best friends are of no concern to her; for Linda, only what matters is that her family has plenty of time for her, because our princess likes to be everywhere. Of course, Linda can also be alone sometimes, she is already very experienced and relies on the fact that the people she trusts will always return—despite the experience of being locked away. Linda doesn't need experienced dog owners, but she needs a safe future and the prospect of a golden autumn of her life. Long leisurely walks, soft dog beds, watching TV together—and of course trips to streams and lakes (and maybe even a pool in the garden), all of this is on Linda's wish list. Could you perhaps extend an invitation to her heart and home?

About Linda &#8211

What life with Linda &#8211 looks like

Linda &#8211 is a small adult mixed breed dog waiting at Tierschutzverein ARCA e.V. in Gernsbach.

An adult dog fits most household rhythms once the first couple of weeks of adjustment pass. Two reasonable walks a day plus play time is usually enough. Plan a "decompression fortnight" — quiet routine, no visitors, no off-leash adventures — to let them settle.

🇩🇪Adopting from Germany

German rescues typically require an in-person home visit (Vorkontrolle) or detailed video home check before approving adoption. Animals leave the shelter sterilized, microchipped, and with a valid EU pet passport. Adoption fees usually fall between €250 and €450, covering veterinary preparation.

Frequently asked

Adopting Linda &#8211, answered.

How do I contact the shelter about Linda &#8211?
Use the phone, email, or website link in the sidebar of this page. Tierschutzverein ARCA e.V. handles screening and the adoption contract directly — TailHarbor doesn't broker the conversation. When you reach out, mention you saw Linda &#8211 on TailHarbor so they know which animal you're asking about.
Can I adopt Linda &#8211 if I live in another country?
Yes, in most cases. Rescues across Europe routinely place animals abroad — Tierschutzverein ARCA e.V. will tell you what they need (EU pet passport, rabies titer, transport coordination) and whether they handle transport themselves or refer you to a partner. Plan for an extra €100–€350 in transport costs depending on distance.
Is Linda &#8211 already vetted, vaccinated, and chipped?
Most dogs on TailHarbor leave their shelter with sterilization, current vaccinations, microchip ID, and an EU pet passport included in the adoption fee. The vet status on this page reflects what the shelter has reported — ask them directly if you need details on specific vaccines, recent bloodwork, or chronic conditions.
What happens if Linda &#8211 isn't the right fit?
Every reputable rescue accepts an animal back if the adoption genuinely doesn't work — that's part of the standard contract. Talk it through with Tierschutzverein ARCA e.V. early rather than rehoming privately; they know Linda &#8211 and can place them more successfully than a second-hand listing can.
Why does the description sometimes read awkwardly?
TailHarbor translates shelter descriptions into English from the source language (DE). Translation is imperfect — names of streets, donors, and shelter-specific terms occasionally slip through unidiomatically. For the cleanest read, click the source link to see the shelter's original page.
