Curro

Mixed Breed · Male

That Curro would come into the care of ArcoNatura was just a matter of time. Time and again, life brought together the paths of animal protectors, supporters, and the lovable male dog until the gentle-nosed dog finally moved into the animal shelter and now can hope for a new life. Curro lived as a dog of a Gypsy, who cared for his four-legged companion no more than for an old rusty bicycle. The employees of ArcoNatura observed repeatedly the dirty water, moldy food remnants, and clear signs of the rotting rope that had been tied around Curro's neck whenever they passed by Curro's "home" to tend to the nearby cat feeding station. Unfortunately, this kind of care, if one can even call it that, is not in accordance with the Spanish animal protection law (and here I also have personal problems with the wording), and the owner was not willing to give up the dog. But eventually, he probably became tired of the complaints and gave Curro to a friend, who took even less care of the nice male dog—so that this dog took his fate into his own hands and ran away. When Curro finally arrived at ArcoNatura through many detours, he was naturally recognized, joyfully greeted, and accepted. The beautiful mixed breed whose coat shines in so many shades that they make us think of amazing things like gold, caramel, chocolate, and coffee shows himself as a very grateful contemporary, who is very eager to always do things right for his rescuers and to show his very best side. Attentive and eager to learn, very obedient when he understands what is expected of him, and full of boundless joy when he is praised, Curro would surely be a dog who could enjoy all kinds of dog sports. But that is just mentioned in passing; above all, our cuddly back simply needs a proper home where he doesn't have to sleep outside, isn't tied up, where he experiences love, and simply feels that he is valuable to his human.

About Curro

What life with Curro looks like

Curro is a adult mixed breed dog waiting at Tierschutzverein ARCA e.V. in Gernsbach.

An adult dog fits most household rhythms once the first couple of weeks of adjustment pass. Two reasonable walks a day plus play time is usually enough. Plan a "decompression fortnight" — quiet routine, no visitors, no off-leash adventures — to let them settle.

🇩🇪Adopting from Germany

German rescues typically require an in-person home visit (Vorkontrolle) or detailed video home check before approving adoption. Animals leave the shelter sterilized, microchipped, and with a valid EU pet passport. Adoption fees usually fall between €250 and €450, covering veterinary preparation.

Frequently asked

Adopting Curro, answered.

How do I contact the shelter about Curro?
Use the phone, email, or website link in the sidebar of this page. Tierschutzverein ARCA e.V. handles screening and the adoption contract directly — TailHarbor doesn't broker the conversation. When you reach out, mention you saw Curro on TailHarbor so they know which animal you're asking about.
Can I adopt Curro if I live in another country?
Yes, in most cases. Rescues across Europe routinely place animals abroad — Tierschutzverein ARCA e.V. will tell you what they need (EU pet passport, rabies titer, transport coordination) and whether they handle transport themselves or refer you to a partner. Plan for an extra €100–€350 in transport costs depending on distance.
Is Curro already vetted, vaccinated, and chipped?
Most dogs on TailHarbor leave their shelter with sterilization, current vaccinations, microchip ID, and an EU pet passport included in the adoption fee. The vet status on this page reflects what the shelter has reported — ask them directly if you need details on specific vaccines, recent bloodwork, or chronic conditions.
What happens if Curro isn't the right fit?
Every reputable rescue accepts an animal back if the adoption genuinely doesn't work — that's part of the standard contract. Talk it through with Tierschutzverein ARCA e.V. early rather than rehoming privately; they know Curro and can place them more successfully than a second-hand listing can.
Why does the description sometimes read awkwardly?
TailHarbor translates shelter descriptions into English from the source language (DE). Translation is imperfect — names of streets, donors, and shelter-specific terms occasionally slip through unidiomatically. For the cleanest read, click the source link to see the shelter's original page.
