Linda

Jack Russell Terrier · Female · Adult · 4 years

Linda is an active terrier female who is very outward-oriented. She therefore still requires a lot of training to orient herself perceptively towards her human and to improve her lead manners. At the sight of other dogs, Linda quickly gets very excited, so she is quite agitated in the animal shelter. However, we hope that this improves in a more peaceful environment. Without distractions, Linda shows a great deal of attentiveness and readiness to learn. In a quiet environment, she can still be taught a lot. She requires a lot of head work, so it is advisable to also intensively engage with her beyond basic training, such as nose work, trick training, digging for mice, and other typical terrier interests. Throwing balls should, however, be explicitly avoided. In return, rest exercises are also meaningful after the action. Linda shows varying degrees of compatibility with male dogs depending on the individual's affinities. We think, however, that she would rather live as a single dog, as she shows little interest in other animals but a lot more in people. Small animals should be kept safe in the new home. If you are interested in one of our dogs, please contact us preferably by email. Describe in the email how the dog will live with you and send us a phone number. Then a staff member will contact you. Dog descriptions are based on observations in the animal shelter or information from third parties and do not represent guaranteed characteristics.

DE·Show original

About Linda

What life with Linda looks like

Linda is a adult jack russell terrier dog waiting at Tierheim Leipzig in Leipzig.

An adult dog fits most household rhythms once the first couple of weeks of adjustment pass. Two reasonable walks a day plus play time is usually enough. Plan a "decompression fortnight" — quiet routine, no visitors, no off-leash adventures — to let them settle.

🇩🇪Adopting from Germany

German rescues typically require an in-person home visit (Vorkontrolle) or detailed video home check before approving adoption. Animals leave the shelter sterilized, microchipped, and with a valid EU pet passport. Adoption fees usually fall between €250 and €450, covering veterinary preparation.

Frequently asked

Adopting Linda, answered.

How do I contact the shelter about Linda?
Use the phone, email, or website link in the sidebar of this page. Tierheim Leipzig handles screening and the adoption contract directly — TailHarbor doesn't broker the conversation. When you reach out, mention you saw Linda on TailHarbor so they know which animal you're asking about.
Can I adopt Linda if I live in another country?
Yes, in most cases. Rescues across Europe routinely place animals abroad — Tierheim Leipzig will tell you what they need (EU pet passport, rabies titer, transport coordination) and whether they handle transport themselves or refer you to a partner. Plan for an extra €100–€350 in transport costs depending on distance.
Is Linda already vetted, vaccinated, and chipped?
Most dogs on TailHarbor leave their shelter with sterilization, current vaccinations, microchip ID, and an EU pet passport included in the adoption fee. The vet status on this page reflects what the shelter has reported — ask them directly if you need details on specific vaccines, recent bloodwork, or chronic conditions.
What happens if Linda isn't the right fit?
Every reputable rescue accepts an animal back if the adoption genuinely doesn't work — that's part of the standard contract. Talk it through with Tierheim Leipzig early rather than rehoming privately; they know Linda and can place them more successfully than a second-hand listing can.
Why does the description sometimes read awkwardly?
TailHarbor translates shelter descriptions into English from the source language (DE). Translation is imperfect — names of streets, donors, and shelter-specific terms occasionally slip through unidiomatically. For the cleanest read, click the source link to see the shelter's original page.
