Adopt Linus

Mixed Breed · Male · Senior · 9 years

During our project trip at the end of October 2025, we naturally also visited our partners Paola and PierPaolo in Stintino. And we knew that several new arrivals were waiting to be introduced to us. Among the new arrivals was this handsome, friendly male dog: Linus. Linus met the same fate as thousands of other dogs in Sardinia: he was unwanted and born into a Canile. But not just yesterday or the day before, but in August 2017. He was only 7 months old at the time. And so eight years passed. Always behind bars. In noise, in dirt, with little attention. Until Paola noticed him and took pity. She rescued him from the Canile, and now he is in the rescue and clearly enjoying his newly gained life. Linus gets along wonderfully with the other dogs housed in the rescue, and during free-run times, he races around the large indoor area with his new friends. He was still a bit cautious with us strangers, but that didn't surprise us. For years, he only knew the people who cleaned his enclosure and provided him with food and water. That was his monotonous life for eight years. But now he is opening up more and more. The only thing missing for his complete happiness is a real family, loving people who will give him a home, love him, and include him in all family activities, so he can forget the many sad years of his life and enjoy living. Would you like to be the new family that shows Linus how beautiful life can be?

About Linus

What life with Linus looks like

Linus is a large senior mixed breed dog waiting at ProTier e.V. in Germany.

Senior dogs settle in faster than younger ones. They want a soft bed, predictable meals, and short, sniff-heavy walks rather than runs. Many senior rescues bond deeply within weeks because they understand exactly how good a stable home is. Expect occasional vet visits for joint or dental care.

🇩🇪Adopting from Germany

German rescues typically require an in-person home visit (Vorkontrolle) or detailed video home check before approving adoption. Animals leave the shelter sterilized, microchipped, and with a valid EU pet passport. Adoption fees usually fall between €250 and €450, covering veterinary preparation.

Frequently asked

Adopting Linus, answered.

How do I contact the shelter about Linus?
Use the phone, email, or website link in the sidebar of this page. ProTier e.V. handles screening and the adoption contract directly — TailHarbor doesn't broker the conversation. When you reach out, mention you saw Linus on TailHarbor so they know which animal you're asking about.
Can I adopt Linus if I live in another country?
Yes, in most cases. Rescues across Europe routinely place animals abroad — ProTier e.V. will tell you what they need (EU pet passport, rabies titer, transport coordination) and whether they handle transport themselves or refer you to a partner. Plan for an extra €100–€350 in transport costs depending on distance.
Is Linus already vetted, vaccinated, and chipped?
Most dogs on TailHarbor leave their shelter with sterilization, current vaccinations, microchip ID, and an EU pet passport included in the adoption fee. The vet status on this page reflects what the shelter has reported — ask them directly if you need details on specific vaccines, recent bloodwork, or chronic conditions.
What happens if Linus isn't the right fit?
Every reputable rescue accepts an animal back if the adoption genuinely doesn't work — that's part of the standard contract. Talk it through with ProTier e.V. early rather than rehoming privately; they know Linus and can place them more successfully than a second-hand listing can.
Why does the description sometimes read awkwardly?
TailHarbor translates shelter descriptions into English from the source language (DE). Translation is imperfect — names of streets, donors, and shelter-specific terms occasionally slip through unidiomatically. For the cleanest read, click the source link to see the shelter's original page.
