LINUS

Mixed Breed · Male · Senior · 9 years

Estimated birth date: August 2017 Short description: very friendly, affectionate, people-oriented, curious, relaxed, family+, teenagers+, male dogs+, female dogs+, cats+ In mid-August 2026, the shelter manager Kata received a distress call: a dog was injured and wandering in a small forest area in very poor condition. Kata and her husband Levente immediately went searching, but initially no dog could be found. The caller, a woman from a nearby farm, said she had left water and food for the poor fellow so that he would at least get some care. Kata asked her to inform her immediately as soon as the dog appeared again. The next day it was already time - and Levente could secure the completely weakened male dog. His condition was shocking: he was malnourished, neglected and had a wound on one of his ears, in which fly larvae had already settled. Levente brought him immediately to the clinic, where the veterinarian thoroughly cleaned and treated the ear. The wound is healing very well and the big fighter Linus is visibly recovering from his ordeal. Despite everything Linus has experienced, he shows himself to be an incredibly loving, friendly and patient fellow. In dealing with him, he is gentle and calm. Simply a great, people-oriented and, despite his size, manageable and gentle fellow, who is just happy to be finally safe and experience affection. In dealing with his fellow dogs, he also shows himself to be peaceful and relaxed - whether large or small, whether female or male. Even when meeting the test cat, he behaved cautiously and reserved, so that one could probably also get Linus used to living with house cats with time and patience. The charming Linus would actually fit into any household with dog experience. He just wants to experience what it's like to be loved and cared for and to lead a normal, appropriate dog life. Maybe someone will discover this lovable dog man and give him a future. Linus moves to his new home neutered, chipped, vaccinated, dewormed and with an EU pet passport. Would you like to give Linus a happy life? Then we look forward to your message! You can use the self-disclosure form (or alternatively the contact form) to do this.

About LINUS

What life with LINUS looks like

LINUS is a small senior mixed breed dog waiting at Pfotenretter Ungarn in Pfotenretter.

Senior dogs settle in faster than younger ones. They want a soft bed, predictable meals, and short, sniff-heavy walks rather than runs. Many senior rescues bond deeply within weeks because they understand exactly how good a stable home is. Expect occasional vet visits for joint or dental care.

🇨🇭Adopting from Switzerland

Swiss shelters require a home visit (Platzkontrolle) and proof of suitable accommodation. Cantons each have their own additional dog-keeping requirements (e.g. SKN training in some areas). Animals leave sterilized and chipped.

Frequently asked

Adopting LINUS, answered.

How do I contact the shelter about LINUS?
Use the phone, email, or website link in the sidebar of this page. Pfotenretter Ungarn handles screening and the adoption contract directly — TailHarbor doesn't broker the conversation. When you reach out, mention you saw LINUS on TailHarbor so they know which animal you're asking about.
Can I adopt LINUS if I live in another country?
Yes, in most cases. Rescues across Europe routinely place animals abroad — Pfotenretter Ungarn will tell you what they need (EU pet passport, rabies titer, transport coordination) and whether they handle transport themselves or refer you to a partner. Plan for an extra €100–€350 in transport costs depending on distance.
Is LINUS already vetted, vaccinated, and chipped?
Most dogs on TailHarbor leave their shelter with sterilization, current vaccinations, microchip ID, and an EU pet passport included in the adoption fee. The vet status on this page reflects what the shelter has reported — ask them directly if you need details on specific vaccines, recent bloodwork, or chronic conditions.
What happens if LINUS isn't the right fit?
Every reputable rescue accepts an animal back if the adoption genuinely doesn't work — that's part of the standard contract. Talk it through with Pfotenretter Ungarn early rather than rehoming privately; they know LINUS and can place them more successfully than a second-hand listing can.
Why does the description sometimes read awkwardly?
TailHarbor translates shelter descriptions into English from the source language (DE). Translation is imperfect — names of streets, donors, and shelter-specific terms occasionally slip through unidiomatically. For the cleanest read, click the source link to see the shelter's original page.
