Lisa

Female · Senior · 10 years

This girl most likely once lived in a home, and now she spends her days alone in a kennel, while we can offer her very little. Almost nothing she truly needs can be found in the shelter. Lisa is an intensely human-oriented dog. The moment she sees you walk by, she looks straight into your eyes, waiting eagerly for a bit of attention. She is so happy whenever she gets even a moment of human company that her whole face lights up. She sits, stands, sits again, watches you closely, ready to do whatever she thinks you want. And if you start petting her, she melts, rolls over, and lets you keep going for as long as you like. She is a dog who needs people and is ready to devote herself to anyone who gives her even a little love. She belongs in a home and with a family, not in a kennel. There is nothing this dog cannot learn. She is always so focused on the person holding her that, in those moments, you become her person. She holds eye contact, sits upright and attentive, her strong muscles almost seeming to listen, respond, and follow along with her. She waits for you to show her what to do, so that together you can build the perfect cooperation, the perfect relationship. She is highly cooperative, with a strong character that earns your respect and makes you want to meet her with the same willingness. Other dogs don’t interest her much. She won’t be making dog friends on walks. She will simply walk with you, focused on you. She loves her ball, and she loves food, but if she has to choose, she will most likely pick the ball. She runs after it and catches it, and we are gradually teaching her to bring it back. She enjoys practicing the commands she knows, and in general, she likes doing things she is good at. With proper daily activity, three moderate walks a day, a couple of short ball play sessions, and regular meals, she will be incredibly cooperative and happy. Lisa is a deeply human-oriented, very affectionate, and exceptionally intelligent dog. She is the kind of dog who will be loyal to you and stand by your side, steady as a rock. To the person who offers her consistency and true attention, she will give her whole soul.

About Lisa

What life with Lisa looks like

Lisa is a medium-sized senior dog waiting at Save a Greek Stray in Metsovo.

Senior dogs settle in faster than younger ones. They want a soft bed, predictable meals, and short, sniff-heavy walks rather than runs. Many senior rescues bond deeply within weeks because they understand exactly how good a stable home is. Expect occasional vet visits for joint or dental care.

🇬🇷Adopting from Greece

Greek shelters often partner with Northern European rescue groups for placements. Animals are sterilized, vaccinated, and chipped before adoption. Fees vary widely depending on whether the shelter is municipal or NGO-run.

Frequently asked

Adopting Lisa, answered.

How do I contact the shelter about Lisa?
Use the phone, email, or website link in the sidebar of this page. Save a Greek Stray handles screening and the adoption contract directly — TailHarbor doesn't broker the conversation. When you reach out, mention you saw Lisa on TailHarbor so they know which animal you're asking about.
Can I adopt Lisa if I live in another country?
Yes, in most cases. Rescues across Europe routinely place animals abroad — Save a Greek Stray will tell you what they need (EU pet passport, rabies titer, transport coordination) and whether they handle transport themselves or refer you to a partner. Plan for an extra €100–€350 in transport costs depending on distance.
Is Lisa already vetted, vaccinated, and chipped?
Most dogs on TailHarbor leave their shelter with sterilization, current vaccinations, microchip ID, and an EU pet passport included in the adoption fee. The vet status on this page reflects what the shelter has reported — ask them directly if you need details on specific vaccines, recent bloodwork, or chronic conditions.
What happens if Lisa isn't the right fit?
Every reputable rescue accepts an animal back if the adoption genuinely doesn't work — that's part of the standard contract. Talk it through with Save a Greek Stray early rather than rehoming privately; they know Lisa and can place them more successfully than a second-hand listing can.
Why does the description sometimes read awkwardly?
TailHarbor translates shelter descriptions into English from the source language (EN). Translation is imperfect — names of streets, donors, and shelter-specific terms occasionally slip through unidiomatically. For the cleanest read, click the source link to see the shelter's original page.
