LITTLE CHARLIE

Male · Senior · 11 years

Name: Little Charlie Estimated Date of Birth: April 2015 Brief Info: curious, open, cuddly, people-oriented, already more relaxed in his demeanor, senior+, family+, youth+, male+, female+, cats+ *For Little Charlie, we only provide adoption assistance through our partner organization Fellengel in Not, via which the dog is placed. If you’re interested in adopting Little Charlie, please fill out the self-disclosure form directly on Fellengel in Not’s website. Little Charlie is waiting for visitors at his current home in 34311 Naumburg near Kassel.* Charlie, originally from a Hungarian animal shelter, unfortunately has to leave his home due to a change in his living situation and the resulting lack of time. We’d be happy to discuss his previous journey and current situation in more detail during a personal conversation. Charlie is a true gentleman in his prime: charming, cuddly, and full of personality. He forms a close bond with his humans but also welcomes visitors openly and friendly—after all, there might still be some extra petting to be had somewhere. And he collects those affectionate moments with great enthusiasm. Generally speaking: wherever there’s a human, there’s Charlie—preferably right by their side, loving physical contact, and always ready for a cozy cuddle session. Due to his age, he now takes things a bit more calmly and has perfected the art of relaxed living. His favorite spot? A warm patch of sunlight from which he can keep an eye on everything. He finds the kitchen especially exciting: here he lies quietly in his spot, attentively observing—maybe something will accidentally fall his way 😉. Speaking of food: that’s his greatest passion. Charlie would probably start a gourmet blog if he could. However, since his stomach is a bit sensitive, snacks remain rather rare—much to his mild regret. He walks nicely on a leash, though his age is noticeable: after about half an hour, his adventure comes to an end, and he heads straight back toward the sofa. When meeting unfamiliar dogs, Charlie sometimes shows his excited side—he loudly comments on the situation but quickly calms down as soon as the other dog is out of sight. With familiar dogs, on the other hand, he’s completely easygoing and even enjoys joint walks or little play sessions. A real plus: Charlie is a relaxed travel companion. Whether by car, bus, train, or bike trailer—he loves being along for the ride and often falls fast asleep during the journey. Charlie is looking for a calm home with understanding people. Children should already be older and know how to treat animals respectfully. Whether rural or urban—Charlie is comfortable in both settings. What matters most to him is a relaxed environment where he can simply be himself, observe, and feel at ease. He’d be thrilled to have a garden or balcony with his favorite sunny spot. Stairs should be kept to a minimum—or there should be an elevator for this little gentleman. Despite his age, Charlie is still sharp-minded and happily responds to small tricks with a few tasty treats. However, his body needs a bit of support: thanks to his pain injection (every 5–7 weeks), he feels much better. The cost per injection is around €80–€100. Charlie will go to his new home neutered, chipped, vaccinated, dewormed, and equipped with an EU pet passport. If you’d like to give this special little rascal a few more wonderful years, please don’t hesitate to get in touch. The best way to do so is to use the self-disclosure form on Fellengel in Not’s website right away.

About LITTLE CHARLIE

What life with LITTLE CHARLIE looks like

LITTLE CHARLIE is a medium-sized senior dog waiting at Pfotenretter Ungarn in Pfotenretter.

Senior dogs settle in faster than younger ones. They want a soft bed, predictable meals, and short, sniff-heavy walks rather than runs. Many senior rescues bond deeply within weeks because they understand exactly how good a stable home is. Expect occasional vet visits for joint or dental care.

🇨🇭Adopting from Switzerland

Swiss shelters require a home visit (Platzkontrolle) and proof of suitable accommodation. Cantons each have their own additional dog-keeping requirements (e.g. SKN training in some areas). Animals leave sterilized and chipped.

Frequently asked

Adopting LITTLE CHARLIE, answered.

How do I contact the shelter about LITTLE CHARLIE?
Use the phone, email, or website link in the sidebar of this page. Pfotenretter Ungarn handles screening and the adoption contract directly — TailHarbor doesn't broker the conversation. When you reach out, mention you saw LITTLE CHARLIE on TailHarbor so they know which animal you're asking about.
Can I adopt LITTLE CHARLIE if I live in another country?
Yes, in most cases. Rescues across Europe routinely place animals abroad — Pfotenretter Ungarn will tell you what they need (EU pet passport, rabies titer, transport coordination) and whether they handle transport themselves or refer you to a partner. Plan for an extra €100–€350 in transport costs depending on distance.
Is LITTLE CHARLIE already vetted, vaccinated, and chipped?
Most dogs on TailHarbor leave their shelter with sterilization, current vaccinations, microchip ID, and an EU pet passport included in the adoption fee. The vet status on this page reflects what the shelter has reported — ask them directly if you need details on specific vaccines, recent bloodwork, or chronic conditions.
What happens if LITTLE CHARLIE isn't the right fit?
Every reputable rescue accepts an animal back if the adoption genuinely doesn't work — that's part of the standard contract. Talk it through with Pfotenretter Ungarn early rather than rehoming privately; they know LITTLE CHARLIE and can place them more successfully than a second-hand listing can.
Why does the description sometimes read awkwardly?
TailHarbor translates shelter descriptions into English from the source language (DE). Translation is imperfect — names of streets, donors, and shelter-specific terms occasionally slip through unidiomatically. For the cleanest read, click the source link to see the shelter's original page.
