Lizard

American Staffordshire Terrier · Female · Senior · 9 years

Lizard is a female American Staffordshire terrier born in December 2016, rescued from poor living conditions in Hajdúdorog by civil animal welfare workers. When Lizard arrived, she was very thin, so we are trying to fatten her up with multiple feedings per day. She already shows that she is smart and has a high activity level. Due to lack of previous upbringing, there is still work to be done on her attitude towards play and other dogs. Lizard can bring a lot of joy and happiness to her beloved owner. We are looking for a home where she can be a full-fledged family member. We hope someone will come who will give her everything she may not have received so far: a proper, secure home and love as a dog and family member. We are looking exclusively for an owner who is experienced with the breed, has dog experience, and is in a position to take care of and manage a young large, energetic dog. Dog training is definitely recommended. Lizard is vaccinated, microchipped, and spayed and would like to move into a new, permanent family. More pictures HERE!

About Lizard

What life with Lizard looks like

Lizard is a small senior american staffordshire terrier dog waiting at Noé Állatotthon in Budapest.

Senior dogs settle in faster than younger ones. They want a soft bed, predictable meals, and short, sniff-heavy walks rather than runs. Many senior rescues bond deeply within weeks because they understand exactly how good a stable home is. Expect occasional vet visits for joint or dental care.

Note from the shelter: Needs weight gain, requires dog training school, socialization with other dogs needed

🇭🇺Adopting from Hungary

Hungarian shelters operate at high capacity given the country's stray population. Animals leave sterilized, chipped, and with a passport. Many shelters coordinate transport to Germany, Austria, and the Nordics.

Frequently asked

Adopting Lizard, answered.

How do I contact the shelter about Lizard?
Use the phone, email, or website link in the sidebar of this page. Noé Állatotthon handles screening and the adoption contract directly — TailHarbor doesn't broker the conversation. When you reach out, mention you saw Lizard on TailHarbor so they know which animal you're asking about.
Can I adopt Lizard if I live in another country?
Yes, in most cases. Rescues across Europe routinely place animals abroad — Noé Állatotthon will tell you what they need (EU pet passport, rabies titer, transport coordination) and whether they handle transport themselves or refer you to a partner. Plan for an extra €100–€350 in transport costs depending on distance.
Is Lizard already vetted, vaccinated, and chipped?
Most dogs on TailHarbor leave their shelter with sterilization, current vaccinations, microchip ID, and an EU pet passport included in the adoption fee. The vet status on this page reflects what the shelter has reported — ask them directly if you need details on specific vaccines, recent bloodwork, or chronic conditions.
What happens if Lizard isn't the right fit?
Every reputable rescue accepts an animal back if the adoption genuinely doesn't work — that's part of the standard contract. Talk it through with Noé Állatotthon early rather than rehoming privately; they know Lizard and can place them more successfully than a second-hand listing can.
Why does the description sometimes read awkwardly?
TailHarbor translates shelter descriptions into English from the source language (HU). Translation is imperfect — names of streets, donors, and shelter-specific terms occasionally slip through unidiomatically. For the cleanest read, click the source link to see the shelter's original page.
