Kevin - Charakterkopf mit klarem Anspruch

American Staffordshire Terrier · Male · Adult · 4 years

Kevin has been with us since May 2025 at our shelter. From his – stubborn and willful – nature, he tests boundaries, needing clear rules/structure – house-trained – can be left alone – gets along with female dogs and neutered males by sympathy – no children, small animals, or cats – needs dog-fighting-experienced people – knows the box – maulkorb-led Here, Kevin introduces himself: Kevin is an Amstaff who knows what he wants – and what he doesn’t. He brings good basics: he masters the common basic commands, walks properly on a leash, and has learned to orient himself to humans. However, it’s important that this person provides him with clear structures and takes the lead. Kevin doesn’t need a hard hand, but someone who shows him boundaries and consistently enforces them. If he’s placed on a throne, he starts making his own decisions – and that often leads to a bad direction. With female dogs, Kevin is generally compatible based on sympathy, but he may occasionally need human support in dog interactions, as he likes to test his boundaries with other dogs. In dealing with male dogs, tensions arise quickly, so we see Kevin more as a single dog. If Kevin is allowed to make too many decisions on his own or gets bored, he tends to come up with bad ideas – here, mental stimulation that challenges both physically and mentally is needed. In situations he perceives as unpleasant or threatening, such as at the vet or when feeling pressured, Kevin can become more assertive. In such moments, a confident, calm presence is needed to guide him through the situation. If Kevin doesn’t take his humans seriously, he also turns against his trusted people – hence, he always wears a muzzle in contact. Kevin is no beginner dog. He needs people with dog experience who can read his body language, give him clear orientation, and are willing to continue working with him. Those who offer this get a dog with character who bonds and works together – as long as the rules are clear. Gets along with other dogs.

Frequently asked

Adopting Kevin - Charakterkopf mit klarem Anspruch, answered.

How do I contact the shelter about Kevin - Charakterkopf mit klarem Anspruch?
Use the phone, email, or website link in the sidebar of this page. Tierheim Oldenburg handles screening and the adoption contract directly — TailHarbor doesn't broker the conversation. When you reach out, mention you saw Kevin - Charakterkopf mit klarem Anspruch on TailHarbor so they know which animal you're asking about.
Can I adopt Kevin - Charakterkopf mit klarem Anspruch if I live in another country?
Yes, in most cases. Rescues across Europe routinely place animals abroad — Tierheim Oldenburg will tell you what they need (EU pet passport, rabies titer, transport coordination) and whether they handle transport themselves or refer you to a partner. Plan for an extra €100–€350 in transport costs depending on distance.
Is Kevin - Charakterkopf mit klarem Anspruch already vetted, vaccinated, and chipped?
Most dogs on TailHarbor leave their shelter with sterilization, current vaccinations, microchip ID, and an EU pet passport included in the adoption fee. The vet status on this page reflects what the shelter has reported — ask them directly if you need details on specific vaccines, recent bloodwork, or chronic conditions.
What happens if Kevin - Charakterkopf mit klarem Anspruch isn't the right fit?
Every reputable rescue accepts an animal back if the adoption genuinely doesn't work — that's part of the standard contract. Talk it through with Tierheim Oldenburg early rather than rehoming privately; they know Kevin - Charakterkopf mit klarem Anspruch and can place them more successfully than a second-hand listing can.
Why does the description sometimes read awkwardly?
TailHarbor translates shelter descriptions into English from the source language (DE). Translation is imperfect — names of streets, donors, and shelter-specific terms occasionally slip through unidiomatically. For the cleanest read, click the source link to see the shelter's original page.
