Locky

Mixed Breed · Male · Adult · 7 years

Origin / Location: Ubeda (Andalusia) Character: friendly and kind, independent, alert, compatible with other dogs New home: patience, time, no expectations, house/garden/yard, experience with herding dogs Adoption fee: 390 euros including transport This is Locky, born in December 2019, 71 cm tall. And if we had to describe him, we would say: He's looking for a home of the "long-distance relationship on equal footing" kind. What does that mean? Well, Locky is a herding dog through and through - and like many members of his breed, he values contact with humans, but with a certain distance and maybe at times on his own terms. He knows what he wants, but that doesn't necessarily mean anything bad. Locky is an unneutered male dog - confident, alert, and has a clear opinion. When we went out from the animal shelter in Ubeda/Andalusia with him, he immediately realized that there was one of my female dogs in the trunk. He got excited quickly, a little tense, a lot of showing off. Nothing wild, just an unneutered guy. His kennel companion, who is also very confident, he finds quite good, so he is into "strong women." On the walk outside, he was initially mostly occupied with himself: checking every blade of grass, securing every tree, making his statement everywhere. The person at the end of the leash served a bit as a partnership of convenience - but still not uninteresting. When I called him, he came even (sort of), but had something else on his mind quickly. Close proximity is okay, but not constantly. In our eyes, Locky is a little free spirit who likes to be needed. He may ask a few more questions at the beginning, but once these are clarified, you will certainly find a reliable companion by his side. Since Locky is a herding dog mix, the acquisition should be carefully considered. A garden/yard/property is an absolute requirement. Likewise, you should already have experience with a dog of this breed and be aware of which character traits may present new challenges. If you now think Locky could fit into your life, please contact us. He could travel to Germany completely vaccinated, microchipped, dewormed, and tested for Mediterranean diseases on the next trip. Since our dogs arrive from Spain in Northern Bavaria, we ask you to check before making an inquiry whether pickup for you is possible in Northern Bavaria. Please keep in mind that our descriptions only reflect a small part of the dog and we can only assess the dogs situationally.

Was das heißt?

About Locky

What life with Locky looks like

Locky is a small adult mixed breed dog waiting at Franz von Assisi Hundenothilfe e.V. (Hunde ohne Lobby) in Vilseck.

An adult dog fits most household rhythms once the first couple of weeks of adjustment pass. Two reasonable walks a day plus play time is usually enough. Plan a "decompression fortnight" — quiet routine, no visitors, no off-leash adventures — to let them settle.

🇩🇪Adopting from Germany

German rescues typically require an in-person home visit (Vorkontrolle) or detailed video home check before approving adoption. Animals leave the shelter sterilized, microchipped, and with a valid EU pet passport. Adoption fees usually fall between €250 and €450, covering veterinary preparation.

Frequently asked

Adopting Locky, answered.

How do I contact the shelter about Locky?
Use the phone, email, or website link in the sidebar of this page. Franz von Assisi Hundenothilfe e.V. (Hunde ohne Lobby) handles screening and the adoption contract directly — TailHarbor doesn't broker the conversation. When you reach out, mention you saw Locky on TailHarbor so they know which animal you're asking about.
Can I adopt Locky if I live in another country?
Yes, in most cases. Rescues across Europe routinely place animals abroad — Franz von Assisi Hundenothilfe e.V. (Hunde ohne Lobby) will tell you what they need (EU pet passport, rabies titer, transport coordination) and whether they handle transport themselves or refer you to a partner. Plan for an extra €100–€350 in transport costs depending on distance.
Is Locky already vetted, vaccinated, and chipped?
Most dogs on TailHarbor leave their shelter with sterilization, current vaccinations, microchip ID, and an EU pet passport included in the adoption fee. The vet status on this page reflects what the shelter has reported — ask them directly if you need details on specific vaccines, recent bloodwork, or chronic conditions.
What happens if Locky isn't the right fit?
Every reputable rescue accepts an animal back if the adoption genuinely doesn't work — that's part of the standard contract. Talk it through with Franz von Assisi Hundenothilfe e.V. (Hunde ohne Lobby) early rather than rehoming privately; they know Locky and can place them more successfully than a second-hand listing can.
Why does the description sometimes read awkwardly?
TailHarbor translates shelter descriptions into English from the source language (DE). Translation is imperfect — names of streets, donors, and shelter-specific terms occasionally slip through unidiomatically. For the cleanest read, click the source link to see the shelter's original page.
