Logan

Mixed Breed · Male

At our friends from Dolmen Animal, a lovable Schokodrops is celebrating his first birthday (as of 01/26). Logan, so the name of this still very shy and emaciated teenager, appeared one day in a small village – alone, hungry, and full of fear. Some neighbors fed him, but not all were well-disposed towards him, and our little tramp had to also learn how cruel people can be. When the first autumn rains came, Logan had no shelter. After a particularly cold and wet night, he was found completely soaked and trembling. As Logan could not have survived alone, we decided to bring him to our partner's animal shelter. At first, Logan was very fearful and would fall into shock at the slightest uncertainty, but now he has recovered, gained weight, and is beginning to trust. Logan is a very quiet and cautious dog who approaches with a lot of sensitivity. His past has left its mark, but he is absolutely friendly and shows curiosity and tenderness towards people. He lets himself be stroked without a problem, walks nicely on a leash, and is slowly adapting to new situations. With other dogs, he is well-tempered, and cat compatibility has not yet been tested. Children who can handle Logan's reserve should not be a problem, as Logan shows no aggression. Logan is currently not neutered and is still waiting in the dog kennel for his vaccinations and tagging. In this process, the tests for all Mediterranean diseases will also be conducted, but so far, the shy researcher appears healthy and ready for his journey into great happiness. Podencos are known for their sensitivity, intelligence, and adaptability. They are often cautious but also curious and eager to learn. Logan already shows the typical reserve and gentleness that many Podencos are known for. With patience and loving guidance, he will develop into a loyal friend and playmate. Podencos are active and enjoy walks, needing a safe environment where they can thrive. Logan does not play with toys yet, but he goes on walks very willingly, is easily encouraged by other dogs to play, and will surely discover the ball specialist in himself. Logan needs sensitive people who give him time to build trust and enjoy exploring the world anew with him. A securely fenced garden and an only dog are ideal, but are not a prerequisite.

About Logan

What life with Logan looks like

Logan is a small adult mixed breed dog waiting at Tierschutzverein ARCA e.V. in Gernsbach.

An adult dog fits most household rhythms once the first couple of weeks of adjustment pass. Two reasonable walks a day plus play time is usually enough. Plan a "decompression fortnight" — quiet routine, no visitors, no off-leash adventures — to let them settle.

🇩🇪Adopting from Germany

German rescues typically require an in-person home visit (Vorkontrolle) or detailed video home check before approving adoption. Animals leave the shelter sterilized, microchipped, and with a valid EU pet passport. Adoption fees usually fall between €250 and €450, covering veterinary preparation.

Frequently asked

Adopting Logan, answered.

How do I contact the shelter about Logan?
Use the phone, email, or website link in the sidebar of this page. Tierschutzverein ARCA e.V. handles screening and the adoption contract directly — TailHarbor doesn't broker the conversation. When you reach out, mention you saw Logan on TailHarbor so they know which animal you're asking about.
Can I adopt Logan if I live in another country?
Yes, in most cases. Rescues across Europe routinely place animals abroad — Tierschutzverein ARCA e.V. will tell you what they need (EU pet passport, rabies titer, transport coordination) and whether they handle transport themselves or refer you to a partner. Plan for an extra €100–€350 in transport costs depending on distance.
Is Logan already vetted, vaccinated, and chipped?
Most dogs on TailHarbor leave their shelter with sterilization, current vaccinations, microchip ID, and an EU pet passport included in the adoption fee. The vet status on this page reflects what the shelter has reported — ask them directly if you need details on specific vaccines, recent bloodwork, or chronic conditions.
What happens if Logan isn't the right fit?
Every reputable rescue accepts an animal back if the adoption genuinely doesn't work — that's part of the standard contract. Talk it through with Tierschutzverein ARCA e.V. early rather than rehoming privately; they know Logan and can place them more successfully than a second-hand listing can.
Why does the description sometimes read awkwardly?
TailHarbor translates shelter descriptions into English from the source language (DE). Translation is imperfect — names of streets, donors, and shelter-specific terms occasionally slip through unidiomatically. For the cleanest read, click the source link to see the shelter's original page.
