Loki

Male · Young · 2 years

Loki is a dog who needs time to trust humans. The initial stages of working together weren't easy—Loki felt uncertain and could show his anxiety by growling or threatening. That's why the first meetings took place through a barrier, maintaining a safe distance. However, once Loki overcomes his fears and starts to trust someone, he reveals an entirely different side: he becomes a wonderful, devoted companion. With a trusted person, he allows himself to get close and increasingly enjoys cooperating. In situations that stress him out or when he feels pressured, he can clearly communicate his discomfort by baring his teeth. Currently, he’s learning to walk on a leash with a muzzle. Loki is a strong dog who can pull quite hard on the leash and sometimes jumps excitedly at his handler. Nevertheless, walks with him are becoming more and more enjoyable and peaceful. From a distance, he observes other dogs, and he does respond to his name—but occasionally he deliberately ignores it. He has difficulty forming bonds with new people, so his future home must be prepared for several introductions and for building trust at his own pace and from a comfortable distance. For Loki, we’re looking for a home that is: – patient and calm, – willing to work on his anxieties, – without children, – without other pets.

PL·Show original

About Loki

What life with Loki looks like

Loki is a medium-sized young adult dog waiting at Schronisko dla Zwierząt w Poznaniu in Poznan.

An young adult dog fits most household rhythms once the first couple of weeks of adjustment pass. Two reasonable walks a day plus play time is usually enough. Plan a "decompression fortnight" — quiet routine, no visitors, no off-leash adventures — to let them settle.

🇵🇱Adopting from Poland

Polish shelters maintain established transport routes to Germany, Netherlands, Austria, and Sweden. Animals leave sterilized and chipped. Adoption fees are typically lower than in Western Europe (often €50–€150) but adopters cover transport.

Frequently asked

Adopting Loki, answered.

How do I contact the shelter about Loki?
Use the phone, email, or website link in the sidebar of this page. Schronisko dla Zwierząt w Poznaniu handles screening and the adoption contract directly — TailHarbor doesn't broker the conversation. When you reach out, mention you saw Loki on TailHarbor so they know which animal you're asking about.
Can I adopt Loki if I live in another country?
Yes, in most cases. Rescues across Europe routinely place animals abroad — Schronisko dla Zwierząt w Poznaniu will tell you what they need (EU pet passport, rabies titer, transport coordination) and whether they handle transport themselves or refer you to a partner. Plan for an extra €100–€350 in transport costs depending on distance.
Is Loki already vetted, vaccinated, and chipped?
Most dogs on TailHarbor leave their shelter with sterilization, current vaccinations, microchip ID, and an EU pet passport included in the adoption fee. The vet status on this page reflects what the shelter has reported — ask them directly if you need details on specific vaccines, recent bloodwork, or chronic conditions.
What happens if Loki isn't the right fit?
Every reputable rescue accepts an animal back if the adoption genuinely doesn't work — that's part of the standard contract. Talk it through with Schronisko dla Zwierząt w Poznaniu early rather than rehoming privately; they know Loki and can place them more successfully than a second-hand listing can.
Why does the description sometimes read awkwardly?
TailHarbor translates shelter descriptions into English from the source language (PL). Translation is imperfect — names of streets, donors, and shelter-specific terms occasionally slip through unidiomatically. For the cleanest read, click the source link to see the shelter's original page.
