Loki (M) 8 months - adoption via BorderLineCollie Characteristics Birth date: 20/07/2023 Gender: Male Registered with LOF/LOSH/ISDS: No Disabilities: No Child compatibility: From adolescence (not used to children) Dog compatibility: Yes Cat compatibility: No Other compatibility: No Character Loki is described by his owners as a soft, loyal teddy bear. The house where Loki lives and the surroundings are too crowded for him; he has no space to run. Loki is very stressed because of this and therefore becomes unmanageable during walks on the street; he gathers everything that moves and everything that is attached. The owners realize they are not giving Loki what he needs and wish him a calmer and more free home. History Loki arrived at his owners' home at 12 weeks old, right in the center of Nijmegen. It quickly became apparent that Loki was not comfortable in the crowd. Loki tried to "work" by gathering everything that moved. A private trainer was called for this and advised against walking him on the streets. This increased his frustration and the owners have no choice but to ask BLC to find a calmer home for Loki Loki is used to the cage, is comfortable in the car and can be left alone at home for several hours. He has taken some puppy classes and listens reasonably well. Loki has not been tested with sheep. He likes pull and thinking games! He is somewhat reserved towards people he doesn't know, but is curious about them. He jumps on familiar people and can bite them with enthusiasm. Loki really wants to meet other dogs and approaches them with sometimes too much enthusiasm.

About Loki

What life with Loki looks like

Loki is a puppy/kitten mixed breed dog waiting at Border Line Collie in borderlinecollie.

Puppies need routine, gentle socialization, and roughly two short outings a day for the first year. The first six months are the formative window — house-training, leash work, and quiet exposure to traffic, other dogs, and unfamiliar people happen now or not at all. Expect early-morning wake-ups and a few months of chewing.

🇫🇷Adopting from France

French refuges follow the SPA framework: adopters sign a cession contract that includes sterilization, vaccinations, microchip identification, and rabies passport. Fees are typically €150–€300. Many refuges work with rescue transport partners for cross-border placements.

Frequently asked

Adopting Loki, answered.

How do I contact the shelter about Loki?
Use the phone, email, or website link in the sidebar of this page. Border Line Collie handles screening and the adoption contract directly — TailHarbor doesn't broker the conversation. When you reach out, mention you saw Loki on TailHarbor so they know which animal you're asking about.
Can I adopt Loki if I live in another country?
Yes, in most cases. Rescues across Europe routinely place animals abroad — Border Line Collie will tell you what they need (EU pet passport, rabies titer, transport coordination) and whether they handle transport themselves or refer you to a partner. Plan for an extra €100–€350 in transport costs depending on distance.
Is Loki already vetted, vaccinated, and chipped?
Most dogs on TailHarbor leave their shelter with sterilization, current vaccinations, microchip ID, and an EU pet passport included in the adoption fee. The vet status on this page reflects what the shelter has reported — ask them directly if you need details on specific vaccines, recent bloodwork, or chronic conditions.
What happens if Loki isn't the right fit?
Every reputable rescue accepts an animal back if the adoption genuinely doesn't work — that's part of the standard contract. Talk it through with Border Line Collie early rather than rehoming privately; they know Loki and can place them more successfully than a second-hand listing can.
Why does the description sometimes read awkwardly?
TailHarbor translates shelter descriptions into English from the source language (FR). Translation is imperfect — names of streets, donors, and shelter-specific terms occasionally slip through unidiomatically. For the cleanest read, click the source link to see the shelter's original page.
