Loki

adoption requirements adoption process Now request this animal!Loki has fortunately already found his Forever Home! His story: The young tomcat Loki unfortunately had a difficult start in life, as he wandered through the streets of Romania with his mother and brother. Although neighbors provided food for the three cats, they were still in danger of life because they had Panleukopenia (also known as "cat plague," a highly contagious, often fatal viral disease in cats caused by the feline parvovirus) and Giardia (intestinal parasites). Fortunately, they were saved by a cat trap and subsequently treated in a clinic for the diseases. Now they are back to their playful selves and ready for the start of a new life. Due to his difficult background, Loki is initially very shy and fearful. It takes time for him to build trust and get accustomed to people. While he may purr and accept treats when held, he will run away and hide as soon as he is put down. Therefore, he urgently needs a family that can bring a lot of time and patience. Due to his young age and background, Loki urgently needs the company of his fellow animals. Therefore, there should be at least one cat waiting for him in his new home. If not, he will certainly be happy to take one of his foster home friends with him. Additionally, we can only place the young tomcat as an indoor-only cat due to his medical history. However, he would definitely appreciate a covered balcony where he can retreat and relax. Loki can now begin his journey to his new home and is already neutered, microchipped, vaccinated, dewormed, and flea-treated. He has also been tested negative for FIV and FeLV and comes with an EU pet passport. An enclosed (netted) balcony is required for cat safety.

About Loki

What life with Loki looks like

Loki is a adult mixed breed cat waiting at Ein Herz für Streuner e.V. in München.

An adult cat usually shows their personality within a week. Give them a quiet room with everything they need (food, water, litter, hiding spot) and let them choose when to explore. Don't force interaction — every cat decides for themselves when a new home counts as home.

🇩🇪Adopting from Germany

German rescues typically require an in-person home visit (Vorkontrolle) or detailed video home check before approving adoption. Animals leave the shelter sterilized, microchipped, and with a valid EU pet passport. Adoption fees usually fall between €250 and €450, covering veterinary preparation.

Frequently asked

Adopting Loki, answered.

How do I contact the shelter about Loki?
Use the phone, email, or website link in the sidebar of this page. Ein Herz für Streuner e.V. handles screening and the adoption contract directly — TailHarbor doesn't broker the conversation. When you reach out, mention you saw Loki on TailHarbor so they know which animal you're asking about.
Can I adopt Loki if I live in another country?
Yes, in most cases. Rescues across Europe routinely place animals abroad — Ein Herz für Streuner e.V. will tell you what they need (EU pet passport, rabies titer, transport coordination) and whether they handle transport themselves or refer you to a partner. Plan for an extra €100–€350 in transport costs depending on distance.
Is Loki already vetted, vaccinated, and chipped?
Most cats on TailHarbor leave their shelter with sterilization, current vaccinations, microchip ID, and an EU pet passport included in the adoption fee. The vet status on this page reflects what the shelter has reported — ask them directly if you need details on specific vaccines, recent bloodwork, or chronic conditions.
What happens if Loki isn't the right fit?
Every reputable rescue accepts an animal back if the adoption genuinely doesn't work — that's part of the standard contract. Talk it through with Ein Herz für Streuner e.V. early rather than rehoming privately; they know Loki and can place them more successfully than a second-hand listing can.
Why does the description sometimes read awkwardly?
TailHarbor translates shelter descriptions into English from the source language (DE). Translation is imperfect — names of streets, donors, and shelter-specific terms occasionally slip through unidiomatically. For the cleanest read, click the source link to see the shelter's original page.
