Lori

Husky · Female · Adult · 4 years

Lori came to the animal shelter very frightened - withdrawn, cautious, trying to disappear from sight, she hid in the corner. However, it was enough for us to be engaged and spend some time in the company of other dogs, to start opening up. In a group she feels more secure, more and more often shows her tail up and... character. She can bark back when another dog teases her - she is not aggressive, but she won't let anyone blow in her face. She still approaches people with distance. She doesn't rush to knees, doesn't try to get attention, but we know that this can change. Lori is a dog that will still show what she can do - as soon as she gets time, patience, a quiet home and a caregiver's experience. We are looking for a home for her without children, but with a big heart and sensitivity. Someone who has knowledge (both theoretical and practical), time and commitment. Ideally, she should have a dog companion - with him she will feel more secure faster. Before Lori life, which she is still learning. If you are looking for a dog whose development you will observe with pride and emotion - meet Lori.

PL·Show original

Do człowieka wciąż podchodzi z dystansem. Najlepiej, by miała psiego towarzysza – z nim szybciej poczuje się pewnie. Przed Lori życie, którego dopiero się uczy. Jeśli szukasz psa, którego rozwój będziesz obserwować z dumą i wzruszeniem – poznaj Lori.

About Lori

What life with Lori looks like

Lori is a medium-sized adult husky dog waiting at Schronisko Na Paluchu in Warsaw.

An adult dog fits most household rhythms once the first couple of weeks of adjustment pass. Two reasonable walks a day plus play time is usually enough. Plan a "decompression fortnight" — quiet routine, no visitors, no off-leash adventures — to let them settle.

Note from the shelter: Fearful rescue requiring patient rehabilitation and experienced handler

🇵🇱Adopting from Poland

Polish shelters maintain established transport routes to Germany, Netherlands, Austria, and Sweden. Animals leave sterilized and chipped. Adoption fees are typically lower than in Western Europe (often €50–€150) but adopters cover transport.

Frequently asked

Adopting Lori, answered.

How do I contact the shelter about Lori?
Use the phone, email, or website link in the sidebar of this page. Schronisko Na Paluchu handles screening and the adoption contract directly — TailHarbor doesn't broker the conversation. When you reach out, mention you saw Lori on TailHarbor so they know which animal you're asking about.
Can I adopt Lori if I live in another country?
Yes, in most cases. Rescues across Europe routinely place animals abroad — Schronisko Na Paluchu will tell you what they need (EU pet passport, rabies titer, transport coordination) and whether they handle transport themselves or refer you to a partner. Plan for an extra €100–€350 in transport costs depending on distance.
Is Lori already vetted, vaccinated, and chipped?
Most dogs on TailHarbor leave their shelter with sterilization, current vaccinations, microchip ID, and an EU pet passport included in the adoption fee. The vet status on this page reflects what the shelter has reported — ask them directly if you need details on specific vaccines, recent bloodwork, or chronic conditions.
What happens if Lori isn't the right fit?
Every reputable rescue accepts an animal back if the adoption genuinely doesn't work — that's part of the standard contract. Talk it through with Schronisko Na Paluchu early rather than rehoming privately; they know Lori and can place them more successfully than a second-hand listing can.
Why does the description sometimes read awkwardly?
TailHarbor translates shelter descriptions into English from the source language (PL). Translation is imperfect — names of streets, donors, and shelter-specific terms occasionally slip through unidiomatically. For the cleanest read, click the source link to see the shelter's original page.
