Lottus &#8211

Mixed Breed · Male · Young · 1 year

At our friends at "El buen amigo," five new arrivals have joined. A handful of tiny furballs were born on February 18, 2025, in the safety of a family facility in Andalusia. The mother of the adorable new stars arrived at the animal shelter just a few days before giving birth; she had likely been on the streets for a long time. Hardly had the puppies been born when a neighbor brought the father of the cheerful rattle band to our partners. He had often been seen with the female dog—and honestly, he can't deny his offspring. While the mother is probably a highly successful mix of Podenco, Labrador, and German Short-haired Pointer, the proud father looks more like a too-small Long-haired German Shepherd. With this gene pool, one might think the little ones would vary greatly, but even the experienced animal welfare workers can only distinguish them when they use colorful neck bands. But by the time the young athletes are sleeping on their backs, Galleta (the only girl) can be found in the group. Our cuteness overload on four legs is currently just a month old (as of March 18, 2025), and their plans for world conquest are still rather modest. Our litter of puppies has already discovered how to play, enchant hearts, use their mother as a climbing park, and claim the softest spots for sleeping. Galleta and her brothers, Cookie, Lottus, Principe, and Oreo, have never known life on the street; they were born to loving people, surrounded by their mother all day, and have been under veterinary care since the first day. Our friends will allow them to learn everything a little explorer needs to break into their own family in the coming weeks. If you're starting the puppy adventure, if you're humorous and patient, if you're prepared for a whirlwind that makes your life completely unpredictable, and if you're ready for a time full of nonsense, laughter, and head-shaking, then we can't wait to hear from you!

About Lottus &#8211

What life with Lottus &#8211 looks like

Lottus &#8211 is a small young adult mixed breed dog waiting at Tierschutzverein ARCA e.V. in Gernsbach.

An young adult dog fits most household rhythms once the first couple of weeks of adjustment pass. Two reasonable walks a day plus play time is usually enough. Plan a "decompression fortnight" — quiet routine, no visitors, no off-leash adventures — to let them settle.

🇩🇪Adopting from Germany

German rescues typically require an in-person home visit (Vorkontrolle) or detailed video home check before approving adoption. Animals leave the shelter sterilized, microchipped, and with a valid EU pet passport. Adoption fees usually fall between €250 and €450, covering veterinary preparation.

Frequently asked

Adopting Lottus &#8211, answered.

How do I contact the shelter about Lottus &#8211?
Use the phone, email, or website link in the sidebar of this page. Tierschutzverein ARCA e.V. handles screening and the adoption contract directly — TailHarbor doesn't broker the conversation. When you reach out, mention you saw Lottus &#8211 on TailHarbor so they know which animal you're asking about.
Can I adopt Lottus &#8211 if I live in another country?
Yes, in most cases. Rescues across Europe routinely place animals abroad — Tierschutzverein ARCA e.V. will tell you what they need (EU pet passport, rabies titer, transport coordination) and whether they handle transport themselves or refer you to a partner. Plan for an extra €100–€350 in transport costs depending on distance.
Is Lottus &#8211 already vetted, vaccinated, and chipped?
Most dogs on TailHarbor leave their shelter with sterilization, current vaccinations, microchip ID, and an EU pet passport included in the adoption fee. The vet status on this page reflects what the shelter has reported — ask them directly if you need details on specific vaccines, recent bloodwork, or chronic conditions.
What happens if Lottus &#8211 isn't the right fit?
Every reputable rescue accepts an animal back if the adoption genuinely doesn't work — that's part of the standard contract. Talk it through with Tierschutzverein ARCA e.V. early rather than rehoming privately; they know Lottus &#8211 and can place them more successfully than a second-hand listing can.
Why does the description sometimes read awkwardly?
TailHarbor translates shelter descriptions into English from the source language (DE). Translation is imperfect — names of streets, donors, and shelter-specific terms occasionally slip through unidiomatically. For the cleanest read, click the source link to see the shelter's original page.
