Lotus & Senna

European Shorthair · Female · Kitten · 4 months

We currently have many lovely kittens at the shelter. We notice that some kittens take a bit longer than others to find a home, as if they are literally and figuratively overlooked. That's why we're giving those kittens a special spotlight so everyone can see how wonderful they are! Lotus and Senna are probably sisters and came to us together. They are what we call shy: gentle and cautious souls that need a lot of time to open up. But if you take the time, you can pet Senna a bit and she will love it! We don't know what they're used to or where they come from, the girls came to us as stray cats. But it's clear they're not used to much. We're looking for quiet new owners who will be just as gentle and cautious with them as they are. In the right environment, these two will definitely break free and it will be a joy for both humans and animals. Children are not suitable for them. If there is enough space inside, they don't necessarily need to be able to go outside. It's important to let them get used to a small space for the first few weeks. Check our website under "shy cats and kittens" for tips. Do you recognize yourself in this description? And are you looking for housemates whose heart you have to win slowly? Come and visit these sisters!

NL·Show original

About Lotus & Senna

What life with Lotus & Senna looks like

Lotus & Senna is a small puppy/kitten european shorthair cat waiting at Dierenasiel Utrecht in Utrecht.

Kittens are tiny chaos engines for about six months and then mellow rapidly. They need two scheduled feedings, a litter box per cat plus one extra, and somewhere high to climb. Spay/neuter happens around six months — most shelters arrange this before adoption.

🇳🇱Adopting from Netherlands

Dutch shelters typically require a household assessment and an adoption contract. Animals are routinely sterilized, microchipped, and registered in the national pet database (NDG) before placement.

Frequently asked

Adopting Lotus & Senna, answered.

How do I contact the shelter about Lotus & Senna?
Use the phone, email, or website link in the sidebar of this page. Dierenasiel Utrecht handles screening and the adoption contract directly — TailHarbor doesn't broker the conversation. When you reach out, mention you saw Lotus & Senna on TailHarbor so they know which animal you're asking about.
Can I adopt Lotus & Senna if I live in another country?
Yes, in most cases. Rescues across Europe routinely place animals abroad — Dierenasiel Utrecht will tell you what they need (EU pet passport, rabies titer, transport coordination) and whether they handle transport themselves or refer you to a partner. Plan for an extra €100–€350 in transport costs depending on distance.
Is Lotus & Senna already vetted, vaccinated, and chipped?
Most cats on TailHarbor leave their shelter with sterilization, current vaccinations, microchip ID, and an EU pet passport included in the adoption fee. The vet status on this page reflects what the shelter has reported — ask them directly if you need details on specific vaccines, recent bloodwork, or chronic conditions.
What happens if Lotus & Senna isn't the right fit?
Every reputable rescue accepts an animal back if the adoption genuinely doesn't work — that's part of the standard contract. Talk it through with Dierenasiel Utrecht early rather than rehoming privately; they know Lotus & Senna and can place them more successfully than a second-hand listing can.
Why does the description sometimes read awkwardly?
TailHarbor translates shelter descriptions into English from the source language (NL). Translation is imperfect — names of streets, donors, and shelter-specific terms occasionally slip through unidiomatically. For the cleanest read, click the source link to see the shelter's original page.
