Lotus

Mixed Breed · Unknown · Puppy · 4 months

When you think things couldn’t get any more heartless, you’ll be proven otherwise here. The little boy was wandering alone and utterly lost on the street. He was found by attentive girls who took him home with them. However, the girls’ mother promptly “disposed of” Lotus right back onto the street, and the girls were grounded. In this case, thanks to social media, people became aware of the little one’s plight. Photos of Lotus were posted, acquaintances at the animal shelter were contacted, and a shelter employee immediately set out to find the little fellow so he could be brought to safety. Today, Lotus is happily living at a volunteer foster home, where he gets along perfectly well with two cats, a greyhound, and children. Lotus is described as a loving and cuddly puppy. As is typical for his age, he’s extremely playful and always up for all sorts of mischief. Now we’re looking for loving people to welcome this lively little Lotus into their lives—people who can show him just how exciting yet relaxing life with two-legged companions can be. People who will both mentally and physically stimulate and challenge him. Lotus will learn everything very quickly if he sees the point in it—and a bit of creativity is definitely called for! And what could be nicer than curling up together on the couch after a day’s work (taking walks that include learning and play sessions or romping around in the garden, which might even come free!), enjoying lots of affection and cuddles?

DE·Show original

About Lotus

What life with Lotus looks like

Lotus is a medium-sized puppy/kitten mixed breed dog waiting at Tierschutzverein Europa in München.

Puppies need routine, gentle socialization, and roughly two short outings a day for the first year. The first six months are the formative window — house-training, leash work, and quiet exposure to traffic, other dogs, and unfamiliar people happen now or not at all. Expect early-morning wake-ups and a few months of chewing.

🇩🇪Adopting from Germany

German rescues typically require an in-person home visit (Vorkontrolle) or detailed video home check before approving adoption. Animals leave the shelter sterilized, microchipped, and with a valid EU pet passport. Adoption fees usually fall between €250 and €450, covering veterinary preparation.

Frequently asked

Adopting Lotus, answered.

How do I contact the shelter about Lotus?
Use the phone, email, or website link in the sidebar of this page. Tierschutzverein Europa handles screening and the adoption contract directly — TailHarbor doesn't broker the conversation. When you reach out, mention you saw Lotus on TailHarbor so they know which animal you're asking about.
Can I adopt Lotus if I live in another country?
Yes, in most cases. Rescues across Europe routinely place animals abroad — Tierschutzverein Europa will tell you what they need (EU pet passport, rabies titer, transport coordination) and whether they handle transport themselves or refer you to a partner. Plan for an extra €100–€350 in transport costs depending on distance.
Is Lotus already vetted, vaccinated, and chipped?
Most dogs on TailHarbor leave their shelter with sterilization, current vaccinations, microchip ID, and an EU pet passport included in the adoption fee. The vet status on this page reflects what the shelter has reported — ask them directly if you need details on specific vaccines, recent bloodwork, or chronic conditions.
What happens if Lotus isn't the right fit?
Every reputable rescue accepts an animal back if the adoption genuinely doesn't work — that's part of the standard contract. Talk it through with Tierschutzverein Europa early rather than rehoming privately; they know Lotus and can place them more successfully than a second-hand listing can.
Why does the description sometimes read awkwardly?
TailHarbor translates shelter descriptions into English from the source language (DE). Translation is imperfect — names of streets, donors, and shelter-specific terms occasionally slip through unidiomatically. For the cleanest read, click the source link to see the shelter's original page.
