Lou-cian

Belgian Malinois · Male · Adult · 8 years

Removed following the request from the relevant town hall because no one was available; lived at the shelter. Plus: calm; show interest in contact; does not pull on the leash; sensitive to smells. Minus: not very trusting of humans; difficult to handle. Eligible for assistance through the 30 Million Friends campaign, Doyen Operation. 30 Million Friends: what is that? 🤔 Aloha dear readers and also dear readers, My name is Lou-cian but you can also call me by my little nickname at the shelter "Loulou". I am over 10 years old, I am a Malinois, and how to say... I have had a life rather like a "garden statue" than a "well-cared-for couch dog". Life has not always been kind to me, I do not always understand human couples and I do not always have much trust in them... they go too fast, they speak too loudly and it makes me a bit confused. So sometimes I show my teeth. Not to be mean, you know — just to say: "hey, slowly, I haven't yet updated my trust, I don't know you!" But behind that, I am a rather quiet grandpa. I do not pull on the leash (yes, yes, a zen Malinois, it exists), I prefer to sniff life at my own pace. Smells are my Google: they allow me to discover you without stress and to understand who you are, in my way. What I'm looking for? A gentle, patient family... but also a bit strong in their shoes. Someone who will not rush me, who respects my space, but who also knows how to guide me calmly and consistently; A family that understands that the best stories sometimes take a little time to be written. Because deep down, I just want one thing: to finally learn what it feels like to be loved... If you are ready to give me a chance, I am waiting for you to be the first in whom I place all my trust. And that, it's precious ❤️ Breed story: height between 56 to 66 cm for a weight of 20 to 30 kg; affectionate; loyal; reactive; versatile; very determined; athletic; highly developed sense of smell; working breed; devoted. The Malinois: a dog capable of doing wonderful things and amazing everyone. But on the other hand, he is also capable of clacking his teeth when happy, running everywhere and doing all sorts of things. 😅 Therefore, the owner must be able to appreciate these two sides: his intelligent side and his silly side! About Lou-cian

What life with Lou-cian looks like

Lou-cian is a adult belgian malinois dog waiting at SPA de l in France.

An adult dog fits most household rhythms once the first couple of weeks of adjustment pass. Two reasonable walks a day plus play time is usually enough. Plan a "decompression fortnight" — quiet routine, no visitors, no off-leash adventures — to let them settle.

🇫🇷Adopting from France

French refuges follow the SPA framework: adopters sign a cession contract that includes sterilization, vaccinations, microchip identification, and rabies passport. Fees are typically €150–€300. Many refuges work with rescue transport partners for cross-border placements.

Frequently asked

Adopting Lou-cian, answered.

How do I contact the shelter about Lou-cian?
Use the phone, email, or website link in the sidebar of this page. SPA de l handles screening and the adoption contract directly — TailHarbor doesn't broker the conversation. When you reach out, mention you saw Lou-cian on TailHarbor so they know which animal you're asking about.
Can I adopt Lou-cian if I live in another country?
Yes, in most cases. Rescues across Europe routinely place animals abroad — SPA de l will tell you what they need (EU pet passport, rabies titer, transport coordination) and whether they handle transport themselves or refer you to a partner. Plan for an extra €100–€350 in transport costs depending on distance.
Is Lou-cian already vetted, vaccinated, and chipped?
Most dogs on TailHarbor leave their shelter with sterilization, current vaccinations, microchip ID, and an EU pet passport included in the adoption fee. The vet status on this page reflects what the shelter has reported — ask them directly if you need details on specific vaccines, recent bloodwork, or chronic conditions.
What happens if Lou-cian isn't the right fit?
Every reputable rescue accepts an animal back if the adoption genuinely doesn't work — that's part of the standard contract. Talk it through with SPA de l early rather than rehoming privately; they know Lou-cian and can place them more successfully than a second-hand listing can.
Why does the description sometimes read awkwardly?
TailHarbor translates shelter descriptions into English from the source language (FR). Translation is imperfect — names of streets, donors, and shelter-specific terms occasionally slip through unidiomatically. For the cleanest read, click the source link to see the shelter's original page.
