Louna

Chihuahua · Unknown · Senior · 10 years

Meet Louna, a 10-year-old Chihuahua mix. After the passing of her owner, Louna came to us. After so many years of knowing her trusted person and environment, this is of course a big change. That's why we are looking for a quiet, loving home where she can find security and companionship again. Louna always lived in an apartment and is not used to long walks. She doesn't need to walk miles to be happy. What's more important to her is the presence of her owner. Louna finds it very difficult to be alone: when she's left alone, she barks and whines. That's why we are looking for someone who is at home a lot and doesn't have to leave her alone very often. Other animals are unfortunately not a good match. Cats are absolutely not an option and the interaction with other dogs is difficult. Louna is therefore placed as a single pet, so she has all the peace and attention for herself. Because Louna is now a senior, we have also had her health checked. A blood test was performed and the results were good. Louna is currently in good health. Who has a quiet spot and wants to give this little lady the safety of her own home again?

NL·Show original

Louna verkeert momenteel in goede gezondheid.

About Louna

What life with Louna looks like

Louna is a small senior chihuahua dog waiting at Dierenasiel Ganzeweide in Veurne.

Senior dogs settle in faster than younger ones. They want a soft bed, predictable meals, and short, sniff-heavy walks rather than runs. Many senior rescues bond deeply within weeks because they understand exactly how good a stable home is. Expect occasional vet visits for joint or dental care.

🇧🇪Adopting from Belgium

Belgian shelters operate under regional law (Flanders, Wallonia, Brussels each have their own rules). All adoptions include the Eurochip, vaccinations, and a stewardship contract. Several Flemish shelters partner with Dutch and German rescue networks.

Frequently asked

Adopting Louna, answered.

How do I contact the shelter about Louna?
Use the phone, email, or website link in the sidebar of this page. Dierenasiel Ganzeweide handles screening and the adoption contract directly — TailHarbor doesn't broker the conversation. When you reach out, mention you saw Louna on TailHarbor so they know which animal you're asking about.
Can I adopt Louna if I live in another country?
Yes, in most cases. Rescues across Europe routinely place animals abroad — Dierenasiel Ganzeweide will tell you what they need (EU pet passport, rabies titer, transport coordination) and whether they handle transport themselves or refer you to a partner. Plan for an extra €100–€350 in transport costs depending on distance.
Is Louna already vetted, vaccinated, and chipped?
Most dogs on TailHarbor leave their shelter with sterilization, current vaccinations, microchip ID, and an EU pet passport included in the adoption fee. The vet status on this page reflects what the shelter has reported — ask them directly if you need details on specific vaccines, recent bloodwork, or chronic conditions.
What happens if Louna isn't the right fit?
Every reputable rescue accepts an animal back if the adoption genuinely doesn't work — that's part of the standard contract. Talk it through with Dierenasiel Ganzeweide early rather than rehoming privately; they know Louna and can place them more successfully than a second-hand listing can.
Why does the description sometimes read awkwardly?
TailHarbor translates shelter descriptions into English from the source language (NL). Translation is imperfect — names of streets, donors, and shelter-specific terms occasionally slip through unidiomatically. For the cleanest read, click the source link to see the shelter's original page.
