25-02-2019 - And so, for you little one, tomorrow will start a new life. Never forget what we all did for you. You came to us almost dead, we did everything to save you and today you are a wonderful girl with a special character. Go, dear, but never forget us. "You will think again about all the good I gave you, only and solely me. You will think again how nothing was everything for me..." This is life, we save you, we take care of you, we love you so much that we have to let you fly. You will be missed, little wonderful Lucia, thank you for everything you gave us and thank you to all the Friends who contributed to her rebirth. 29-12-2018 - Thanks to the therapies, the hematoma is being reabsorbed and our Lucia has received her Christmas miracle, the small one can see and very well. She is a small female dog beautiful and kind, will it be good for her to have this new friendship? Will she become a rascal like Gegè? For now, we continue with the treatments and in the meantime, we'll see if rascals are born or made. 21-12-2018 - Lucia is doing very well, perhaps she has regained her sight, at least we hope. We believe in miracles and if that's the case, she is a beautiful Christmas miracle, her little head is broken but it will be fixed. Thank you to those who help from the side of Lucia !! 14-12-2018 - She was rescued last night in an isolated area. Immediately it became evident that her little eyes were not working properly, in addition, she expressed discomfort given by constant whining that tears at the heart. She was abandoned in an unpopulated place and it was precisely her cries of pain that made a lady notice her. We don't know what caused the skull fracture, probably a kick, or something that with force caused her serious trauma. The little one must undergo RSM as soon as possible, but at this moment her conditions do not allow her to be anesthetized. Currently, she cannot see. She is being monitored and we are in constant contact with our neurologist. We called her Lucia. Thank you to those who will support us, we will keep you informed. Violence against such a small and helpless creature is something disgusting. Click on the photos to enlarge them!

L'abbiamo chiamata Lucia. Grazie a chi ci sosterrà, vi terremo informati.

About Lucia

What life with Lucia looks like

Lucia is a adult mixed breed dog waiting at L.I.D.A. Olbia in Olbia.

An adult dog fits most household rhythms once the first couple of weeks of adjustment pass. Two reasonable walks a day plus play time is usually enough. Plan a "decompression fortnight" — quiet routine, no visitors, no off-leash adventures — to let them settle.

🇮🇹Adopting from Italy

Italian canili require adopters to sign a stewardship contract (affido) and may retain the right to verify the animal's wellbeing post-adoption. Animals are chipped and sterilized before leaving (Legge 281/91). Public canili rifugio typically waive adoption fees.

Frequently asked

Adopting Lucia, answered.

How do I contact the shelter about Lucia?
Use the phone, email, or website link in the sidebar of this page. L.I.D.A. Olbia handles screening and the adoption contract directly — TailHarbor doesn't broker the conversation. When you reach out, mention you saw Lucia on TailHarbor so they know which animal you're asking about.
Can I adopt Lucia if I live in another country?
Yes, in most cases. Rescues across Europe routinely place animals abroad — L.I.D.A. Olbia will tell you what they need (EU pet passport, rabies titer, transport coordination) and whether they handle transport themselves or refer you to a partner. Plan for an extra €100–€350 in transport costs depending on distance.
Is Lucia already vetted, vaccinated, and chipped?
Most dogs on TailHarbor leave their shelter with sterilization, current vaccinations, microchip ID, and an EU pet passport included in the adoption fee. The vet status on this page reflects what the shelter has reported — ask them directly if you need details on specific vaccines, recent bloodwork, or chronic conditions.
What happens if Lucia isn't the right fit?
Every reputable rescue accepts an animal back if the adoption genuinely doesn't work — that's part of the standard contract. Talk it through with L.I.D.A. Olbia early rather than rehoming privately; they know Lucia and can place them more successfully than a second-hand listing can.
Why does the description sometimes read awkwardly?
TailHarbor translates shelter descriptions into English from the source language (IT). Translation is imperfect — names of streets, donors, and shelter-specific terms occasionally slip through unidiomatically. For the cleanest read, click the source link to see the shelter's original page.
