Adopt Luckie

Mixed Breed · Male · Young · 3 years

mixed breed born 05/2022 about 43cm tall Compatible with: male dogs, female dogs and cats Children not yet tested Luckie is a charming mixed-breed male dog, whose gentle gaze and open, affectionate nature immediately touches the heart. From the first glance, one can feel that this handsome guy has a loyal companion inside, who longs nothing more than to finally arrive and be part of a family again. Especially moving is Lucky's story, because he already spent several weeks in a house and got to know life at home. He knows how beautiful it is to be with people, to feel closeness, to be able to relax and experience security. Therefore, it is now harder for him to cope with the daily routine at the animal shelter. The noise, the restlessness and waiting are taking their toll, because Luckie clearly shows that he would rather live by his humans' side than hope behind bars for his chance. However, he has preserved his wonderful character: Luckie is open, clingy and very people-oriented. He enjoys attention, seeks contact and is happy about every affection. It quickly becomes clear that he wants to build a close bond with his humans and would like to be involved everywhere. He is not the type to push himself forward, but rather a dog who quietly conquers hearts with his sincere, warm nature. Socially, Luckie also shows his best side. He is compatible with other dogs and can therefore move in well with an existing dog. He is also okay with cats, so a home with a cat is also possible. With these many prerequisites, he can easily integrate into different living situations. For Luckie we wish people with heart who recognize what a special treasure is waiting for his second chance. People who give him time to properly settle in, who give him security and never abandon him again. Then Luckie will certainly become a loyal, grateful and loving companion who shows every day how valuable a rescued dog's life can be. Who wants to take Luckie out of the animal shelter and finally give him the home he so desperately longs for? Luckie is obviously microchipped, vaccinated, neutered, registered and checked by a vet. He was also tested for Mediterranean diseases and brings along an EU vaccination certificate to his new home. All the pictures we have of Luckie we have put together on the top of the page into a slideshow. Take the time to look at the pictures, or click on them to see the next picture. Contact:

Mischling geb. Kontakt: Julia Streitl 01 77 – 21 16 44 7

About Luckie

What life with Luckie looks like

Luckie is a young adult mixed breed dog waiting at Hoffnungsvolle Tierherzen e.V. in Essingen.

An young adult dog fits most household rhythms once the first couple of weeks of adjustment pass. Two reasonable walks a day plus play time is usually enough. Plan a "decompression fortnight" — quiet routine, no visitors, no off-leash adventures — to let them settle.

🇩🇪Adopting from Germany

German rescues typically require an in-person home visit (Vorkontrolle) or detailed video home check before approving adoption. Animals leave the shelter sterilized, microchipped, and with a valid EU pet passport. Adoption fees usually fall between €250 and €450, covering veterinary preparation.

Frequently asked

Adopting Luckie, answered.

How do I contact the shelter about Luckie?
Use the phone, email, or website link in the sidebar of this page. Hoffnungsvolle Tierherzen e.V. handles screening and the adoption contract directly — TailHarbor doesn't broker the conversation. When you reach out, mention you saw Luckie on TailHarbor so they know which animal you're asking about.
Can I adopt Luckie if I live in another country?
Yes, in most cases. Rescues across Europe routinely place animals abroad — Hoffnungsvolle Tierherzen e.V. will tell you what they need (EU pet passport, rabies titer, transport coordination) and whether they handle transport themselves or refer you to a partner. Plan for an extra €100–€350 in transport costs depending on distance.
Is Luckie already vetted, vaccinated, and chipped?
Most dogs on TailHarbor leave their shelter with sterilization, current vaccinations, microchip ID, and an EU pet passport included in the adoption fee. The vet status on this page reflects what the shelter has reported — ask them directly if you need details on specific vaccines, recent bloodwork, or chronic conditions.
What happens if Luckie isn't the right fit?
Every reputable rescue accepts an animal back if the adoption genuinely doesn't work — that's part of the standard contract. Talk it through with Hoffnungsvolle Tierherzen e.V. early rather than rehoming privately; they know Luckie and can place them more successfully than a second-hand listing can.
Why does the description sometimes read awkwardly?
TailHarbor translates shelter descriptions into English from the source language (DE). Translation is imperfect — names of streets, donors, and shelter-specific terms occasionally slip through unidiomatically. For the cleanest read, click the source link to see the shelter's original page.
