Lucky

Mixed Breed · Female · Adult · 8 years

06-07-2018 - Our little one has been operated on, the pneumothorax and abdominal hernia have been resolved. At the same time Lucky was spayed, to avoid further intervention and anesthesia in the coming months. She is a super kitten, a little warrior. We sincerely thank anyone who will help us cover the clinic costs, you know that without your support for these creatures we could do nothing. Click on the photos to enlarge them! 29-06-2018 - Our little one has recovered and now we can schedule an appointment with the surgeon for the operation. Lucky has fought hard to live, she is a very sweet little kitten who will then need a wonderful family. We thank those who will help us with the costs, without your support we could do nothing. 27-06-2018 - Our doll arrived half-dead and look at how she is recovering. She needs to eat and regain strength to face the operation. She is a wonderful little doll and we thank anyone who will help her. 22-06-2018 - Today Lucky returned from the clinic, she needs to get back on her feet, she needs to be strong to face the operation. We need help to pay all the veterinary expenses we face every day. We thank anyone who will help us. 21-06-2018 - The little one is still hospitalized, she needs to be operated on but until she is stabilized it's not possible, she wouldn't survive the anesthesia. She needs contact, she just wants to be held, after all she's just a little girl so frightened, but who can understand this? Most people think it's "just an animal" ... and yet ... We need help to cover the clinic costs, we have no institutional funding for the care of these creatures and we can do it only thanks to those who support us. Click on the photos to enlarge them! 20-06-2018 - She was hit by a car last night. The person who rescued her first contacted the clinic, convinced there was a contracted veterinary emergency service for strays even in Olbia, but they were asked for €100.00 just for the night visit. Unfortunately in Olbia there is no such agreement, if you rescue an animal you have to pay out of your own pocket. At 4 am the carabinieri contacted us to intervene in aid of this little kitten. Unfortunately, many times articles are written that generalize, like the one from yesterday and people believe what is reported in the newspapers, but the reality is quite different. The small one was hospitalized at our expense, she is very serious: "She has a pneumothorax (air in the lungs) but is stable with regular breathing. She has an abdominal hernia, if stabilized she will need surgery. For now she is lethargic and unresponsive." We will do everything possible to save her, but alone we won't go far. We thank anyone who can help us, we have no public assistance and we live only on donations. Thank you to those who will help this helpless little bird. Click on the photos to enlarge them!

About Lucky

What life with Lucky looks like

Lucky is a adult mixed breed cat waiting at L.I.D.A. Olbia in Olbia.

An adult cat usually shows their personality within a week. Give them a quiet room with everything they need (food, water, litter, hiding spot) and let them choose when to explore. Don't force interaction — every cat decides for themselves when a new home counts as home.

🇮🇹Adopting from Italy

Italian canili require adopters to sign a stewardship contract (affido) and may retain the right to verify the animal's wellbeing post-adoption. Animals are chipped and sterilized before leaving (Legge 281/91). Public canili rifugio typically waive adoption fees.

Frequently asked

Adopting Lucky, answered.

How do I contact the shelter about Lucky?
Use the phone, email, or website link in the sidebar of this page. L.I.D.A. Olbia handles screening and the adoption contract directly — TailHarbor doesn't broker the conversation. When you reach out, mention you saw Lucky on TailHarbor so they know which animal you're asking about.
Can I adopt Lucky if I live in another country?
Yes, in most cases. Rescues across Europe routinely place animals abroad — L.I.D.A. Olbia will tell you what they need (EU pet passport, rabies titer, transport coordination) and whether they handle transport themselves or refer you to a partner. Plan for an extra €100–€350 in transport costs depending on distance.
Is Lucky already vetted, vaccinated, and chipped?
Most cats on TailHarbor leave their shelter with sterilization, current vaccinations, microchip ID, and an EU pet passport included in the adoption fee. The vet status on this page reflects what the shelter has reported — ask them directly if you need details on specific vaccines, recent bloodwork, or chronic conditions.
What happens if Lucky isn't the right fit?
Every reputable rescue accepts an animal back if the adoption genuinely doesn't work — that's part of the standard contract. Talk it through with L.I.D.A. Olbia early rather than rehoming privately; they know Lucky and can place them more successfully than a second-hand listing can.
Why does the description sometimes read awkwardly?
TailHarbor translates shelter descriptions into English from the source language (IT). Translation is imperfect — names of streets, donors, and shelter-specific terms occasionally slip through unidiomatically. For the cleanest read, click the source link to see the shelter's original page.
