Lucky2

Mixed Breed · Male · Young · 1 year

Our animal welfare workers report: “He won’t make it through another winter here at the shelter – his name is Lucky.” The male dog is classified as a senior, rescued from culling in Barlad in May 2024 with a minor injury to his lower lip, a previously healed skin wound. The supposed Rottweiler-mix breed is friendly and attentive towards people and compatible with fellow animals. Lucky already walks calmly on a leash. The Romanian cullings are dark places filled with suffering, sadness, illness, deprivation, and cold; many die alone due to the circumstances or are killed with questionable methods. How long Lucky had lived in the cullings and whether he had a previous owner are unfortunately unknown. Lucky’s gaze was infinitely weary and marked by his life, but he was also friendly and approachable. Now, Lucky is cooperative, people-oriented, and increasingly happy with his animal caretakers, regardless of gender. One animal caretaker especially likes him and he often licks her. Lucky’s old bones are still fit for walks, but he can no longer withstand the elements; he stands slowly, looking back on a hard life and could not believe his luck at his rescue. When the animal welfare worker placed clean water and food in front of him, Lucky barely trusted his nose and his eyes. It seemed as though he was asking: is this really for me, really for me? For a moment, the local animal welfare worker thought this dog had come to terms with his fate, with his end here in the cullings of Barlad. But now, life is slowly returning to Lucky’s weary body. He understands that a guardian angel has opened a way out of the cullings for him and wants to seize his second chance at a better life! We hope for a sanctuary place for the senior. Who will open their heart and home to this brave four-legged friend and give him the chance to rest? Update: 03.02.2026 New photos and videos. 13.10.2025 New photos and videos. Text update: Lucky met fellow animals and cats on his walk in a friendly manner. Please note:. Gets along with other dogs.

About Lucky2

What life with Lucky2 looks like

Lucky2 is a large young adult mixed breed dog waiting at Tierischgeholfen e.V. in Germany.

An young adult dog fits most household rhythms once the first couple of weeks of adjustment pass. A larger dog like this one needs daily off-leash time when possible — a fenced yard or regular access to safe walking trails. Plan a "decompression fortnight" — quiet routine, no visitors, no off-leash adventures — to let them settle.

🇩🇪Adopting from Germany

German rescues typically require an in-person home visit (Vorkontrolle) or detailed video home check before approving adoption. Animals leave the shelter sterilized, microchipped, and with a valid EU pet passport. Adoption fees usually fall between €250 and €450, covering veterinary preparation.

Frequently asked

Adopting Lucky2, answered.

How do I contact the shelter about Lucky2?
Use the phone, email, or website link in the sidebar of this page. Tierischgeholfen e.V. handles screening and the adoption contract directly — TailHarbor doesn't broker the conversation. When you reach out, mention you saw Lucky2 on TailHarbor so they know which animal you're asking about.
Can I adopt Lucky2 if I live in another country?
Yes, in most cases. Rescues across Europe routinely place animals abroad — Tierischgeholfen e.V. will tell you what they need (EU pet passport, rabies titer, transport coordination) and whether they handle transport themselves or refer you to a partner. Plan for an extra €100–€350 in transport costs depending on distance.
Is Lucky2 already vetted, vaccinated, and chipped?
Most dogs on TailHarbor leave their shelter with sterilization, current vaccinations, microchip ID, and an EU pet passport included in the adoption fee. The vet status on this page reflects what the shelter has reported — ask them directly if you need details on specific vaccines, recent bloodwork, or chronic conditions.
What happens if Lucky2 isn't the right fit?
Every reputable rescue accepts an animal back if the adoption genuinely doesn't work — that's part of the standard contract. Talk it through with Tierischgeholfen e.V. early rather than rehoming privately; they know Lucky2 and can place them more successfully than a second-hand listing can.
Why does the description sometimes read awkwardly?
TailHarbor translates shelter descriptions into English from the source language (DE). Translation is imperfect — names of streets, donors, and shelter-specific terms occasionally slip through unidiomatically. For the cleanest read, click the source link to see the shelter's original page.
