Lucy & Coco

Unknown · 5 years

Hello, we are Lucy and Coco …and for several years we have been inseparable. We are looking for a forever home where we can enjoy our time together. Once we get used to you, we are incredibly great travel companions. Would you like to know more about us? I am Coco… and nothing is safe from my climbing skills! I am a cool type, it just takes a little while for me to show everyone that. If you are patient, you will soon see my best side. My friend Lucy is a sensitive and lovely bird lady. She finds people great and is always happy about treats. Lucy also likes to perch on your hand and be spoiled. You should definitely know that we both take heart medication regularly. With a few tricks, we also take them well. Lucy has also tested positive for PBFD, so she must not be with other fellow animals that tested negative for it. PBFD is a feather virus that can be easily transmitted. Common symptoms include feather changes, which can lead to flightlessness. Older birds develop symptoms less frequently when in contact with the virus, while young birds are more at risk. We wish for… sufficient space with many climbing opportunities. We are looking forward to digging boxes, paper, cork, and toys that we can shred with our beaks. We really enjoy that. Clicker training would be an excellent way for us to keep busy, as we are very curious. By the way: We are available for placement throughout Germany. Against cost coverage, an animal shelter can also conduct a five-fold virus test. Would you like to meet us? Then feel free to contact our animal care staff directly or fill out the form below.

About Lucy & Coco

What life with Lucy & Coco looks like

Lucy & Coco is a large adult bird waiting at Tierheim Berlin Falkenberg in Berlin.

Birds are long-lived, social, and noisy. The species and individual history matter enormously — ex-companion parrots can carry strong attachments and trauma. Ask the shelter about their daily routine, diet, and whether they'd do best alone or with a flockmate.

Note from the shelter: Both birds require regular heart medication and Lucy is PBFD positive, requiring isolation from other birds. PBFD is a contagious feather virus that can cause flight impairment.

🇩🇪Adopting from Germany

German rescues typically require an in-person home visit (Vorkontrolle) or detailed video home check before approving adoption. Animals leave the shelter sterilized, microchipped, and with a valid EU pet passport. Adoption fees usually fall between €250 and €450, covering veterinary preparation.

Frequently asked

Adopting Lucy & Coco, answered.

How do I contact the shelter about Lucy & Coco?
Use the phone, email, or website link in the sidebar of this page. Tierheim Berlin Falkenberg handles screening and the adoption contract directly — TailHarbor doesn't broker the conversation. When you reach out, mention you saw Lucy & Coco on TailHarbor so they know which animal you're asking about.
Can I adopt Lucy & Coco if I live in another country?
Yes, in most cases. Rescues across Europe routinely place animals abroad — Tierheim Berlin Falkenberg will tell you what they need (EU pet passport, rabies titer, transport coordination) and whether they handle transport themselves or refer you to a partner. Plan for an extra €100–€350 in transport costs depending on distance.
Is Lucy & Coco already vetted, vaccinated, and chipped?
Most birds on TailHarbor leave their shelter with sterilization, current vaccinations, microchip ID, and an EU pet passport included in the adoption fee. The vet status on this page reflects what the shelter has reported — ask them directly if you need details on specific vaccines, recent bloodwork, or chronic conditions.
What happens if Lucy & Coco isn't the right fit?
Every reputable rescue accepts an animal back if the adoption genuinely doesn't work — that's part of the standard contract. Talk it through with Tierheim Berlin Falkenberg early rather than rehoming privately; they know Lucy & Coco and can place them more successfully than a second-hand listing can.
Why does the description sometimes read awkwardly?
TailHarbor translates shelter descriptions into English from the source language (DE). Translation is imperfect — names of streets, donors, and shelter-specific terms occasionally slip through unidiomatically. For the cleanest read, click the source link to see the shelter's original page.
