Adopt Lucy

Goldendoodle · Female · Adult · 7 years

31-05-26 Lucy is a wonderful girl who has come into our care from a breeder in search of a new start. She is a gentle giant who feels much more confident when surrounded by her kennel friends. Behind the kennel gate, she can be quite bouncy and will happily accept some fuss, especially when her friends are nearby for moral support. However, when she is out on her own with staff, she becomes much more nervous of people approaching her and is still unsure of our intentions. Lucy gets on well with her kennel friends and loves to snuggle up with the other dogs for comfort, so she will need a kind and confident resident dog in her new home to help guide her and give her the reassurance she needs as she settles in and finds her paws. As Lucy has never lived in a home before, she will need to learn all about house training, walking on a lead, and the other basics of home life. She will need patient and understanding adopters who are happy to let her adjust at her own pace and gently build her confidence. Lucy could share her home with older, dog-savvy teenagers who can appreciate and understand that she will need a gentle and quiet introduction to the home, along with her own space to settle in. Lucy is such a sweet-natured girl who clearly wants to trust and be loved. Once she feels safe and secure, we are sure she will blossom into a wonderfully affectionate and loyal companion. This dog can be homed with a resident dog.

About Lucy

What life with Lucy looks like

Lucy is a extra-large adult goldendoodle dog waiting at Many Tears Animal Rescue in Llanelli.

An adult dog fits most household rhythms once the first couple of weeks of adjustment pass. A larger dog like this one needs daily off-leash time when possible — a fenced yard or regular access to safe walking trails. Plan a "decompression fortnight" — quiet routine, no visitors, no off-leash adventures — to let them settle.

🇬🇧Adopting from United Kingdom

UK shelters work under the Pet Travel Scheme (post-Brexit, the EU pet passport is not valid; a UK Animal Health Certificate is required for travel into the EU). Most UK rescues focus on domestic placements but some work with EU partners.

Frequently asked

Adopting Lucy, answered.

How do I contact the shelter about Lucy?
Use the phone, email, or website link in the sidebar of this page. Many Tears Animal Rescue handles screening and the adoption contract directly — TailHarbor doesn't broker the conversation. When you reach out, mention you saw Lucy on TailHarbor so they know which animal you're asking about.
Can I adopt Lucy if I live in another country?
Yes, in most cases. Rescues across Europe routinely place animals abroad — Many Tears Animal Rescue will tell you what they need (EU pet passport, rabies titer, transport coordination) and whether they handle transport themselves or refer you to a partner. UK adopters: post-Brexit travel into the EU requires an Animal Health Certificate. Plan for an extra €100–€350 in transport costs depending on distance.
Is Lucy already vetted, vaccinated, and chipped?
Most dogs on TailHarbor leave their shelter with sterilization, current vaccinations, microchip ID, and an EU pet passport included in the adoption fee. The vet status on this page reflects what the shelter has reported — ask them directly if you need details on specific vaccines, recent bloodwork, or chronic conditions.
What happens if Lucy isn't the right fit?
Every reputable rescue accepts an animal back if the adoption genuinely doesn't work — that's part of the standard contract. Talk it through with Many Tears Animal Rescue early rather than rehoming privately; they know Lucy and can place them more successfully than a second-hand listing can.
Why does the description sometimes read awkwardly?
TailHarbor translates shelter descriptions into English from the source language (EN). Translation is imperfect — names of streets, donors, and shelter-specific terms occasionally slip through unidiomatically. For the cleanest read, click the source link to see the shelter's original page.
