adoption requirements adoption process Now request this animal! adoption requirements adoption process Now request this cat! Lui has found a home! His story: Lui is an approximately one-year-old tomcat who currently lives in one of our cat rooms and there he delights with his friendly and balanced personality. From the very first moment, it's clear: this young tomcat must have already had a home before. He is very people-oriented, actively seeks proximity, enjoys attention, and shows his affection with loud, contented purring. He comes from what is known as a "dumpster" colony. Although tomcats there often don't have the highest priority for rehoming, he caught one of our helpers' attention: every time she came to feed, he sought her proximity and visibly longed for human affection. His desire for contact was so great that she eventually took him in to give him a chance at a real home. Lui is an exceptionally loving and gentle tomcat. He likes to play, is curious, and enjoys shared mental stimulation, but he also values quiet moments in the company of his people. He is clingy without being pushy, and in general, a very pleasant, balanced companion. With other cats, Lui gets along well and also needs feline company – he should not be kept as a single cat. He also gets along with dogs. A free roam is possible for him, but only in a safe environment. For Lui, we wish for people who appreciate his attachment and give him time, love, and company. Whoever gives him a home wins a loyal, cuddly, and all-around lovable companion. His travel arrangements, like all our cats and tomcats, include being neutered, microchipped, vaccinated, dewormed, and flea-treated. He has already tested negative for FIV and FeLV and an EU pet passport is packed in his travel bag. This cat needs outdoor access.

About Lui

What life with Lui looks like

Lui is a young adult mixed breed cat waiting at Ein Herz für Streuner e.V. in München.

An adult cat usually shows their personality within a week. Give them a quiet room with everything they need (food, water, litter, hiding spot) and let them choose when to explore. Don't force interaction — every cat decides for themselves when a new home counts as home.

🇩🇪Adopting from Germany

German rescues typically require an in-person home visit (Vorkontrolle) or detailed video home check before approving adoption. Animals leave the shelter sterilized, microchipped, and with a valid EU pet passport. Adoption fees usually fall between €250 and €450, covering veterinary preparation.

Frequently asked

Adopting Lui, answered.

How do I contact the shelter about Lui?
Use the phone, email, or website link in the sidebar of this page. Ein Herz für Streuner e.V. handles screening and the adoption contract directly — TailHarbor doesn't broker the conversation. When you reach out, mention you saw Lui on TailHarbor so they know which animal you're asking about.
Can I adopt Lui if I live in another country?
Yes, in most cases. Rescues across Europe routinely place animals abroad — Ein Herz für Streuner e.V. will tell you what they need (EU pet passport, rabies titer, transport coordination) and whether they handle transport themselves or refer you to a partner. Plan for an extra €100–€350 in transport costs depending on distance.
Is Lui already vetted, vaccinated, and chipped?
Most cats on TailHarbor leave their shelter with sterilization, current vaccinations, microchip ID, and an EU pet passport included in the adoption fee. The vet status on this page reflects what the shelter has reported — ask them directly if you need details on specific vaccines, recent bloodwork, or chronic conditions.
What happens if Lui isn't the right fit?
Every reputable rescue accepts an animal back if the adoption genuinely doesn't work — that's part of the standard contract. Talk it through with Ein Herz für Streuner e.V. early rather than rehoming privately; they know Lui and can place them more successfully than a second-hand listing can.
Why does the description sometimes read awkwardly?
TailHarbor translates shelter descriptions into English from the source language (DE). Translation is imperfect — names of streets, donors, and shelter-specific terms occasionally slip through unidiomatically. For the cleanest read, click the source link to see the shelter's original page.
