Adoption requirements Adoption process Ask about this animal now! Adoption requirements Adoption process Ask about this cat now! Luis is about three months old and currently lives in a foster home. This little tomcat is particularly gentle, people-oriented kitten that seeks the company of its trusted people. He is very clingy, loves cuddles and enjoys any form of attention and affection. Luis needs human contact and clearly shows how much he longs for security and closeness. He gets along well with other cats as well as dogs. Outdoor access is generally possible for him, provided he is in a safe and protected environment. His story is touching: Luis comes from a village near Bologa, where several cats lived under very poor conditions with an elderly man. During a visit to bring food and help, support was requested for a sick cat - but it turned out that several animals urgently needed help. Luis and his brother Chili were in particularly bad condition and severely dehydrated. At the veterinary clinic, it was initially uncertain whether they would survive. However, with much care, warmth and the right treatment, both have recovered and are now stable, cheerful young tomcats. For Luis we are looking for a loving home where he can belong and continue to receive as much affection as he needs. It would be especially nice if he could be rehomed together with his brother Chili, as the two are closely connected and support each other. For his travel arrangements, Luis, like all our cats and tomcats, is neutered, microchipped, vaccinated, dewormed and treated for fleas. He has already tested negative for FIV and FeLV and also has an EU pet passport in his carrier.

About Luis

What life with Luis looks like

Luis is a puppy/kitten mixed breed cat waiting at Ein Herz für Streuner e.V. in München.

Kittens are tiny chaos engines for about six months and then mellow rapidly. They need two scheduled feedings, a litter box per cat plus one extra, and somewhere high to climb. Spay/neuter happens around six months — most shelters arrange this before adoption.

🇩🇪Adopting from Germany

German rescues typically require an in-person home visit (Vorkontrolle) or detailed video home check before approving adoption. Animals leave the shelter sterilized, microchipped, and with a valid EU pet passport. Adoption fees usually fall between €250 and €450, covering veterinary preparation.

Frequently asked

Adopting Luis, answered.

How do I contact the shelter about Luis?
Use the phone, email, or website link in the sidebar of this page. Ein Herz für Streuner e.V. handles screening and the adoption contract directly — TailHarbor doesn't broker the conversation. When you reach out, mention you saw Luis on TailHarbor so they know which animal you're asking about.
Can I adopt Luis if I live in another country?
Yes, in most cases. Rescues across Europe routinely place animals abroad — Ein Herz für Streuner e.V. will tell you what they need (EU pet passport, rabies titer, transport coordination) and whether they handle transport themselves or refer you to a partner. Plan for an extra €100–€350 in transport costs depending on distance.
Is Luis already vetted, vaccinated, and chipped?
Most cats on TailHarbor leave their shelter with sterilization, current vaccinations, microchip ID, and an EU pet passport included in the adoption fee. The vet status on this page reflects what the shelter has reported — ask them directly if you need details on specific vaccines, recent bloodwork, or chronic conditions.
What happens if Luis isn't the right fit?
Every reputable rescue accepts an animal back if the adoption genuinely doesn't work — that's part of the standard contract. Talk it through with Ein Herz für Streuner e.V. early rather than rehoming privately; they know Luis and can place them more successfully than a second-hand listing can.
Why does the description sometimes read awkwardly?
TailHarbor translates shelter descriptions into English from the source language (DE). Translation is imperfect — names of streets, donors, and shelter-specific terms occasionally slip through unidiomatically. For the cleanest read, click the source link to see the shelter's original page.
