Luise

Female · Adult · 5 years

I am Louise and I am back in life! Who can help me recover? I have already experienced life from its rough side, was born as a street cat and something very unpleasant happened to me. Because I am so afraid of people, I didn't make myself known when I was accidentally locked up. I endured a very long time without food and water and lived just barely when I was finally found because I had no strength left to hide. Due to this lack, I have neurological problems, could barely walk without falling for a long time after being fed. Now I can walk again, sometimes I hop. I can't run or jump yet, but I am a fighter, want to live and believe I can do it again someday. Until then, I need a safe environment and medication, that's why I wish for people to support me with a sponsorship. I may never be able to trust and only like to leave my sleeping hut at night when it's dark. I can't return to my old home, a HTV feeding place, unfortunately. It's quite dangerous there and I can't escape. But maybe I can soon find a secure place to live - with people who accept that I don't want to show myself to them? If you would like to give a former street tiger a very special home from November 2026, please send your completed self-disclosure (enable JavaScript for the address). 10/08/2026 (scb)

About Luise

What life with Luise looks like

Luise is a large adult cat waiting at Tierheim Hamburg in Hamburg.

An adult cat usually shows their personality within a week. Give them a quiet room with everything they need (food, water, litter, hiding spot) and let them choose when to explore. Don't force interaction — every cat decides for themselves when a new home counts as home.

🇩🇪Adopting from Germany

German rescues typically require an in-person home visit (Vorkontrolle) or detailed video home check before approving adoption. Dogs and cats typically leave the shelter sterilized, microchipped, and with an EU pet passport.

Frequently asked

Adopting Luise, answered.

How do I contact the shelter about Luise?
Use the phone, email, or website link in the sidebar of this page. Tierheim Hamburg handles screening and the adoption contract directly — TailHarbor doesn't broker the conversation. When you reach out, mention you saw Luise on TailHarbor so they know which animal you're asking about.
Can I adopt Luise if I live in another country?
Yes, in most cases. Rescues across Europe routinely place animals abroad — Tierheim Hamburg will tell you what they need (EU pet passport, rabies titer, transport coordination) and whether they handle transport themselves or refer you to a partner. Transport is usually a separate cost, so ask for the exact figure before you commit.
Is Luise already vetted, vaccinated, and chipped?
Most cats on TailHarbor leave their shelter with sterilization, current vaccinations, microchip ID, and an EU pet passport included in the adoption fee. The vet status on this page reflects what the shelter has reported — ask them directly if you need details on specific vaccines, recent bloodwork, or chronic conditions.
What happens if Luise isn't the right fit?
Every reputable rescue accepts an animal back if the adoption genuinely doesn't work — that's part of the standard contract. Talk it through with Tierheim Hamburg early rather than rehoming privately; they know Luise and can place them more successfully than a second-hand listing can.
Why does the description sometimes read awkwardly?
TailHarbor translates shelter descriptions into English from the source language (DE). Translation is imperfect — names of streets, donors, and shelter-specific terms occasionally slip through unidiomatically. For the cleanest read, click the source link to see the shelter's original page.
